Went to a local grass air strip and took some photos of a restored Beechcraft sitting in the sun. Wanted to share.
Shot wide open (of course) with an ND filter
Sharing a few shots. I’ve had the camera for about five hours so far and am loving the manual focus experience. I sold my x100vi for this as a more intentional shooter. I have kept my r5mk2 as my auto focus centered dad cam.
These are taken with the Mitakon 65 1.4. I am using focus peaking with check and feel I’m getting solid results so far but I have missed focus on the Oldsmobile shot. Frustrating as it is not moving. I am shooting at 4000 shutter and have an ND on the way. These are all shot wide open or f1.8 at the most.
Any tips are appreciated to achieve true focus even when it appears to be peaked correctly (this was). I’m not jabbing at the shutter release and am intentionally as still as can be. First time shooting without ibis on this fast (and heavy) of a lense. All feedback appreciated.

Looking for someone to hopefully put me onto a new OEM hot shoe cover for my black x100vi.
It somehow was lost on a recent trip and I want an OEM cover.
Can anyone point me to a website / company to order this from?
I’ve been using the 50mm 1.8 for a while now on my R5 mk2. I initially picked it up as I enjoy 50mm and the cost is hard to beat. Intention was to leave and use it as a daily lense given its size while I rented L lenses to see which fit my use case.
So far I’ve rented:
70-200 2.8
70-200 2.8z w/ 1.4x converter
85mm 1.2
I’m inclined to say I will be buying the 85 1.2 as I prefer primes and do a fair bit of portrait work and love the compression it gives me in travel shooting.
This being said - the 50 1.2 is on my short list as I know I love the focal length and the benefits the L glass will give along with the faster aperature are a no brainer. However the lense is much heavier than my 1.8. If I stop down to about 2.0 and higher I’m hard pressed to see much difference in the photos I’ve taken with the 85 in terms of clarity and sharpness. There are the obvious issues of chromatic aberration etc that will remain with this cheaper glass.
Does anyone shoot 50mm as their primary and have or have not made the drastic jump in size, cost and weight for the L 50 1.2 without regret?
I’d love to hear how this decision was made if you’re a prime shooter.
