For those seeing this specific error message at the end of setting up a hub/remote or adding a remote to an existing hub, I have a solution/workaround.

This works specifically when you receive this message after clicking the “exit setup” button at the bottom of the app when finished setting up a new hub or adding/replacing a remote. You will get the setup complete message, click exit setup, and then will be taken to the error message above.

From here, click “exit” on the error message. This will take you back to the main screen in the app where your hub is available to select. DO NOT select anything yet. Your hub light will be green. LEAVE THE REMOTE ALONE. Do not shut it off or try to reset. Leave it in the cradle if it’s an Elite or Ultimate, and don’t push any button if it is a non touch screen like companion or Smart Control.

The remote WILL start to sync on its own after a period of waiting. You will see the syncing message with the progress percentage on the touch screen if applicable. If a Smart Control or companion, give it a minute and then press one of the activity buttons to confirm it is has synced. It can take a long time for this to appear, 30 seconds or more, where you may think nothing is happening. You may have to take the remote in and out of the cradle once to prompt it, but it will sync.

From here, once the remote shows completed sync, everything should work straight away.

After remote sync, I still recommend covering some bases by going into the REMOTE settings and choosing HUB reboot. Once the is rebooted, go into the REMOTE settings once again, and choose sync remote. After these last 2 steps, you should have no issues with the remote or the app settings, and can make any additional changes needed in the app without encountering any other error messages.

I have done at least 10+ full setups or remote add ons to existing hubs in the last couple months where I have encountered this error almost every time, and the remote has never failed to sync when left alone following the steps above.

I hope this can help someone. Please note, this does NOT apply to the similar error that can occur at the beginning of setup, that happens after connecting your WiFi, where the “configuring” message appear but fails and loads that error message. For that, I force quit the app and factory reset the hub and try again, or go straight to the MyHarmony PC software to setup the hub there, at least initially to get the software updates/add WiFi network.

9/10 after the factory reset the hub sets up no problem on the mobile app. If it doesn’t, I have never had the setup fail via the MyHarmony desktop software.

The software previously had worked on this device, although I hadn’t used it in a while. Running Windows 11.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result. I get the initial blue splash screen in the background, but doesn’t get to the login screen.

Apple TV 4K model A2843 boots to this screen every time. Have tried all the remote button combinations I have seen from research, unplugged it 10 time in a row, etc.

It starts up and stays on this screen while the front light blinks slowly, and then it moves to blinking rapidly with no change to the screen.
