summary

This chapter is relatively short rest to the others, but that's because I had stuff to do and we had a ceremony thing, so I barely had time to write, so I had to do something quick.

So, Vienna now comes to the realization that the reason Austria and Hungary are suddenly more warm and loving now is because of her crippling mental health (They were already loving before, would Austria break court rules and take her on father-daughter trips solo if he didn't love her?) and they confront her about keeping her mental issues a secret, because they're scared for her life.

Hungary makes Vienna promise to not keep anything quiet again, and Austria ends with "We love you too much to let the pain linger." which is honestly so sweet.

[I want to lighten the mood as I have been mostly MIA due to the King's passing, so enjoy a letter, let me know what you think]

I want to start off this letter by saying how much you matter to me. You're my pride and joy, my angel, my little girl, my star, so much more. I cannot say how much I love you in words, and the reason I'm saying this is to remind you that you're here for a reason. Your mother and I didn't bring you and your brother into this world so we could hurt you and let you get hurt.

I've seen more of you than you think. I've seen how you've been hurt, I've heard how you've told yourself "I don't matter, I am worthless" in the mirror. It breaks my heart to see you suffer like this. It breaks my heart to see my precious girl cry at night, your cries and pleas break me.

I'm glad you trust me enough to let me be stricter and build tighter walls around you. I'm glad you let me protect you in ways I haven't before. Sometimes at night, I look at you when you sleep. You're so precious and perfect when you sleep, it almost makes me forget how you went through hell.

Happy birthday my sweet girl, you are very loved and cherished by this family, and especially me. Your mother and I were praying for a daughter, and now, thirteen years later; I have an identical clone of me. You inherited the sass from me, that's for damn sure.

I love you so very much, my little sweet girl.

Together (as a couple/parents)

• They are a rather sweet couple together. Even tho Austria-Hungary is no longer a thing, they are still married and live by regal standards. Austria wears the same regalia as he did before and Hungary is both a knight and a good mother.
• Austria has rather strict parenting but has a soft spot, while Hungary is soft but very firm.
• Austria brings the children to operas, performances and to beautifully decorated parks while Hungary brings them to malls, roller rinks and to stores where the children can explore.
• They celebrate birthdays extravagantly for everyone.
• They have two houses in both countries, a rather large one in Innsbruck and the other one in Győr, though they are relocating. However, they do have apartments in both Vienna and Budapest IN CASE they need to be central for both cities.
• Though the empire's borders are not there, they still live as a dual monarchy, but with today's borders. They never got divorced, I headcannon Austria doesn't have the heart to divorce the love of his life and the mother of his children.
• Due to Austria being loaded and having stacks of cash and being a good investor + owning several companies, he brings his family on luxury vacations. Sometimes, he brings only one of the children to show his girl dad colors.

Hungary (as a mother/wife)

• Hungary does take care of the house, but her daughter often helps her because she wants to bond with her Anya. This often ends up with them gossiping over school/work drama and eventually them laughing their asses off.
• Hungary is a good wife, but protects her husband and children if anything happens to them.
• She encourages the twins to follow their dreams, though she admitted to have encouraged her son too hard.
• She and Austria put relatively more pressure on Budapest than his sister, but they keep a closer eye on Vienna due to her severe mental health issues and the fact she actively has regressing episodes.

Austria (as a father/husband)

• Austria is generally quite controlling over the family, but he wants them all the best. He keeps an especially close eye on Vienna because of the above mentioned mental health problems. In that sense, he is also relatively more protective over her and prevents her from doing things. However, he has softened up and let her do water sports because she showed genuine passion in it and the fact warm pool water could help soften joint pain.
• He often stays up with either wife or daughter because he loves his girls a lot (and the fact the relationship between father and son is quite questionable). However, he doesn't neglect Budapest either, rather Budapest being distanced from his father because of all the pressure mounted on him on his duties.
• This doesn't mean Vienna is free from pressure either. As the only daughter, he expects her to respect his insane rules (no dating, no pants, the whole shebang), but he is genuinely very soft towards her. He knows what she went through and reached a hand when Vienna needed it.

• Austria and Hungary spend hours baking together, telling each other how much they love each other and being generally sweet together. On their birthdays, they give each other flowers and small presents.

• Germany secretly enjoys watching Austria and his wife bond, but wishes he could do the same with Italy without people judging him.

• Sweden often saves an extra meatball for Finland.

• Lithuania often buys Poland blankets in pink and gets him Lady Gaga stuff (because its Poland what did u expect?)

• France often likes to mimick England to see him angry which he secretly adores.

• [AU!] - After finding out Hungary was pregnant, Austria wouldn't stop crying in pure joy. He was so happy to be a father to biological children.

• Denmark often gifts Canada stupid LEGO sets.

How do you think Austria would realistically react if Vienna:

• Is exposed for being a fujoshi/himejoshi (by her brother)
• Cussed (by accident and on purpose)
• Got in contact with some bad people (both online and irl)
• Got in a fight
• Got seriously harmed
• Suddenly got very quiet and started hiding her skin (...for several reasons)
• Cried over everything and EVERYTHING.
• Has a messy room but she wants to clean it but... her mental health prevents her to.
• Came home late
• Started dating (She isn't allowed to)
