How important it is to know which member visited your gym?

Hi all. I'm evaluating an idea for so called "frictionless check-in" for gyms (it's basically a glorified name for RFID tag attached to member's bag + RFID reader + software). Although, there are few things to know how gyms work in a country where I come from.

- "Open doors" policy - which means, no special keys or too strict check-in

- This is not a system that prevents frauds - there's a high level of trust when it comes to gym membership here. A case that someone who didn't pay their memberships will enter your gym is pretty rare.

- Hustle when it comes to check-in - in the best case, there's an app (how f....g obvious) that displays a QR code, you scan it, and you checked in. Like, every 10th member is even doing that. If you make it mandatory, you risk losing members since the competition is quite fierce (where I go, people are already pissed because of code locks on lockers). Plus, people tend to forget their phones. People want to train. Period.

Overall, the whole idea is to give gym owners an accurate representation which members exactly hit their gyms. Based on these data, you could get a good insight in peek hours, peek days, make loyalties more accurate, connect members with personal trainers, reduce the churn rate, maybe even advertise some products (a bit controversial though), etc.

But to come back to the question from the title, is it even important to know you which member came today?
