Freezer soups

My dad is going to be undergoing a number of long treatments and testing for a number of health issues that went undetected for a very long time. I'm going to be prepping a lot of freezer meals for my parents as I live in a different state. Aside from bone broths and veg soup does anyone have any soups that freeze really well?

Preferably ones with no tough roughage, no nuts, and hopefully can pack a nutritional punch all while appealing to a man who loves garlic and onion, but few other seasonings. My mom is quite capable of making anything to go alongside (like noodles or rice) the day of so it wouldn't become gross in the freeze/thaw process.

Transitioning

I couldn't figure out how to title this. Both of my cats are getting older (10 and 11) and I know with dogs it's recommended to get a puppy when the elder dog(s) can train it appropriately. It also supposedly helps them live longer - it has something to do with playful puppies and expending more energy. Does the same hold true for cats? I've had cats nearly my entire life, but for various reasons this will be my first geriatric pairing. They're bonded, so I'm concerned about the future when one of them passes. Edit: both cats are 100% indoor cats. We'll also talk to our vet, but looking for "real world" feedback. Fostering isn't an option because of our cranky ol' biddy, but also because anything that lives with us for any length of time is beloved and part of our household

Antique hardware

These are the window latches in our airbnb in England that's a ridiculous number of years old. The conical part loosens/tightens on a bolt-type thing and fits into the bottom part. So if your windows are wonky, you don't have to worry about the latch lining up perfectly. Does anyone know what they're called?

Travel apps

I know I've seen several apps recommended here for trains and the Tube, but I can't find the posts when I search. What apps should I download? We'll be traveling around London, plus Bath, Salisbury, Lyme Regis, and Windermere and using trains/buses to get around.

Thanks!

Edit: citymapper has been downloaded. Is there a good app for train schedules? We have rail passes.

Indian buffet?

Does anyone know of an Indian buffet that's open? I don't care if it's only open weekend/weekday. Ordering takeout for dinner tonight and realized how much I miss the variety available, but they seem to have all closed during covid.

Seiger

Currently on a rewatch of S23 and have a question. What makes everyone trust Seiger so much? I know very little of his background - only what's been put on TC. He seems to be playing fairly and not screwing over his competitors, but is he known for being highly technical or something? Everyone seems to ask him questions or to look over their dish and I know it's common for TC chefs to have their "person" to ask for feedback, but it seems like everyone leans on him at some point. Is this editing, his culinary pedigree, or something else?

Max8 air pressure

This is probably a super niche question, but does anyone know if the Max8 or the other newer one (-800?) planes are pressurized differently than others in the SW fleet? For the past 2ish years, whenever I fly on one for more than an hour or so, I end up feeling like I'm up at altitude in the mountains. This doesn't happen on other SW planes, so I'm not sure what's going on.

What is this?

Reposting because I forgot the photo 🤦‍♀️

This is framed in our first floor hallway. House is from 1893 and our most likely guesses are either a neat bit of electrical work that is now defunct, or signals/bells for the kitchen/staff (think Cinderella). House was originally built by a doctor and is now part of the inner ring of suburbs, but was originally a country house

Edit to add, this is 10.5' - 11' from the floor (ceiling height) in the US Midwest.

Beach Hut Etiquette

For a few days in July, I've rented a cottage in Lyme Regis that comes with a beach hut. We'll be two adults and two teenagers. What are the general (spoken and unspoken) rules of using such a thing, if there are any?

V&A Museum

My international flight out of Heathrow doesn't leave until 1630/4:30pm. I'd really like to do the Victoria and Albert museum before heading to the airport, but I'm not sure how much time to leave myself to wander the museum and grab lunch. Any insights or suggestions?

Has anyone booked a tour with them or have other recommendations? Looking to do a private tour (with pickup from Bowness or Windermere) of Hadrian's Wall and wanting a tour guide who is really into the history of the place and will geek out.
