Never really do this but I guess there's no time like the present. Okay, so I built a thing...
It's called The Cowch. Desktop-first, invite-only, no ads, no algorithm. Your profile is genuinely your room - custom wallpapers and later full html customisation, a music player, wall posts, top 5 friends, vibes, albums. It even has an MSN-style chat panel because why did we ever get rid of that? Connections are capped at 2 degrees of separation so it never becomes a crowd of strangers. The mobile app is literally just a disposable camera: you shoot blind, it saves to your roll, you develop the photos on your laptop later like an actual darkroom moment.
I built it for people who want somewhere to exist online that doesn't consume them - a place you choose to visit, not one that drags you back. Slow and intentional, small on purpose. The internet used to feel like somewhere you went, somewhere with rooms and personality and your actual people. Now it just feels like a job.
Genuinely asking, did I go too far with a passion project or is this actually something people want? Would love to hear thoughts/feedback and be brutal, I can take it.

Hi everyone,
I made a social media platform called The Cowch because I couldn’t find the thing I actually wanted online.
It’s desktop-first, invite-only, no ads, no algorithm. Your profile is meant to feel more like your own little room than a feed. There are profile songs, wall posts, albums, small updates, and the mobile version is basically a disposable camera.
You take photos on your phone, they save to your roll, then you develop them later on desktop.
It’s very early and I need people who will actually test it and tell me what’s broken, confusing, ugly, annoying, or pointless. Please don’t be polite for the sake of it. I need useful honesty.

Hey everyone, looking for a short term loan to help cover an unexpected expense after being signed off work sick and receiving SSP for the past 6 weeks. I’m still in full time employment, but I’ve had a large bill come up before my normal salary resumes in June, so just trying to bridge the gap temporarily.
Repayment would be:
• £600 on 15th June
• £600 on 15th July
Happy to answer any questions or provide additional information if needed. Thanks in advance ❤️
