Does anyone make their own wigs?

If you've seen my previous post about little Sally who will be arriving this week and you've seen the photo of the birds nest that is currently on her head, you'll know why I'm asking this 😂 how hard is it to make your own dolls wigs? I'm fully prepared to go all in on this little glow up project on her. I have some clip in human hair extensions that I no longer use and I'm wondering if they could be used to make a wig? How would I go about that?

Antique doll with a backstory

So I was scrolling through listings for antique dolls yesterday and came across a listing for a 1914 SFBJ jumeau doll, she's a little worse for wear (missing 1 finger and the paint on her hands is pretty chipped, a small crack on the upper back, doesn't have her original clothes and her hair looks like a birds nest 😂) but what caught my attention is that among the photos of her little scraggly self is a photo of a letter written by her original owner who was 79 at the time of writing it. The letter states that "Sally" was bought by her father for her second birthday in 1914 during WW1 and was posted over from France where her father was located at the time (I assume he was away at war) and when she arrived her finger had broken during the trip and she didn't have clothes so her mother adjusted some of her baby clothes to fit her (petticoat and bloomers) and she believes her aunt's handmade a dress for her (the dress itself is unfortunately damaged beyond repair so will need to be replaced 🥺) and the letter ends with "that is all I can tell you about Sally, please take good care of her for me" and when I tell you I almost cried reading it... 😭😭 To think she kept Sally all those years and cared so much about her she wrote a letter to whoever ends up with her, explaining her life story 🥺 naturally Sally has now been reserved by me and I'm awaiting to arrange postage and she will live the rest of her life with me. ❤️

I'd like to fix up her hair as much as possible but I don't intend on repairing the missing finger as I think it's part of her story and should remain that way but I would like to get a new dress for her if possible (I'm sad that her current dress is too damaged to keep) but does anyone know where I could get an appropriate dress for that time period to fit her? The listing states she's 55cm tall. Anyways I just wanted to share her story because I think it's so lovely 🥰

Can anyone help read this signature please?

The best I've come up with is A. S. Lough? I could be way off though 😂

Help with identifying this doll?

Found her in my local "junk" shop today, couldn't bring myself to leave her there. Can't seem to find anything on Google besides on old vinted listing that's no longer available so can't get any info from it. Thanks in advance!

Help identifying this doll?

Went to my local "junk" shop that's basically a huge warehouse full of house clearance stuff that's mostly antique & vintage furniture / glassware / toys etc, spent over an hour just rummaging around but I almost missed this little doll on the first lap because she was on a lower shelf tucked at the back of a glassware shelf. I had a quick Google but only found one photo to match and it was an old vinted listing that's no longer available so I couldn't see any info on it. Any ideas on make / age? She has a soft body. I doubt she's very old but I couldn't leave her there so she's currently hitching a ride home in my bag 😂 thanks in advance 🫶🏻

New to doll collecting

Hi! I'm completely new to doll collecting but my interest started a few years ago when I began mudlarking and would regularly find bits and pieces of old bisque dolls and researching everything about them, which then led to me admiring other peoples collections of antique dolls and all the different kinds. I always wonder about the back story of each doll and who owned them and I find it really fascinating. I've just bought my first doll, she's a little damaged but I don't mind, I'm so excited for her to arrive 🥰
