Frugal beauty swaps

I have been on a debt repayment journey this year (nearly done) and have also decided that I would prefer to spend any extra $$$ on experiences, like concerts and travel. As a beauty enthusiast I have made the below swaps, and would love to hear of any other frugal beauty tips anyone has to share!

\- Press ons vs acrylics. I love the OPI and glamnetic press ons, and their brush on glue. I spend about $30 a month on nails now, instead of $60-$80 every 2 or 3 weeks.

\- castor oil on the lashes + a good tubing mascara vs lash lift and tint. This one is hard because I love a good lash lift and tint, but the oil, a curler, and tarte's tubing mascara gets about the same effect. I will 100% be getting lash lifts and tints as a vacation treat though. I love how low matinence they are!

\- frownies vs botox. $25 for over a month of frownies, while a botox appt runs me about $150-$200 and lasts about 3-4 months as I work out a lot.

\- Brad Mondo butterfly cut vs salon appt. Mastering this has allowed me to go longer between hair appointments. I am too scared to try my hand at diy high lights though. 😅

"Daycare is so expensive, you should just stay home!"

I hear this constantly from clients. I work in a male dominated field and have been established for longer and have significantly more experience in my industry than most of my male counterparts. But for some reason clients exclusively say the above comment to me, and never my colleagues. I usually just shrug it off, but it is really starting to bother me. What I really want to say that daycare is like 15% of what I make, so financially staying home to save on daycare just doesn't make sense.

I recognize that this is very much a first world problem and that I am very privileged. But these comments make me feel that my career is viewed more as a hobby or side hustle, while the men I work with are seen as successful professionals. Maybe I just need to check my ego.

Body image and triathlon

Does anyone else struggle with this or have any tips? I have done a bunch of sprints and I am currently training for the Michigan 70.3. Every day I am blown away at how my body is getting though and adapting to these long work outs. But I do struggle a bit with not looking like a super fit athlete. I am fueling well for the workouts and to prevent injury, but there is a strong urge to start restricting that I am battling daily.

Logistics of fueling on the bike?

I have done a bunch of sprints and I am currently registered for an Olympic in August and a 70.3 in September. I've found I am faster and feel better in the sprints when I take a gel before the swim, and another gel in T2.

My question is though, how do you fuel on the bike without swerving a ton or slowing down? I have pockets in the back of my tri suit but I am not confident in my ability to reach back there while riding. 😅
