Hello all,
I picked up a leachie from someone a couple hours from me a few months ago. Fully bioactive 24x18x36 tank.
Long story short he had some very big and tall begonias that seemed to be thriving and had grown to the top of her tank.
This morning I went to look, and the upper part looked barren. Turns out she Godzilla’d the plants. Must’ve been running around in there & broke some of the branches that were like 1/2”-3/4” thick.
I’ll try to prop these broken ones and see if I can’t get them to make new growth as plants are resilient..
My biggest concern with this at the moment is husbandry. She has significant amounts of cork bark in there, but I want her to have plant coverage. The begonias are gonna take a little while to recover.
My only first assumption is to get some fake plants for coverage. Problem is I’m going out of town in 2 days and don’t expect my sister to do that while I’m gone.
Do you guys think she will be okay? I’m bummed about the plants and just concerned for the well-being of my girl. Any advice is welcome.
She’s just a big girl 🥹 I can’t hate on the hustle, she must’ve been having a party last night or something 🤣

We got our leachie a couple of months ago (PFA)
I try to take her out in the evening & if she’s at the front of the tank or on the glass. She is well aware we are the ones to feed her, her tank is fully bioactive & I know we have the husbandry right. I feel like we have only been able to handle her around once a week right now.
Lately during handling she’s chill for like 5 mins and then she will freak out and try to start running, and tonight for the first time she bit me in the process of moving to put her back into her tank. She jumped off my boyfriend’s arm, and bit me through my sweatpants. We got her back in the cage.
I’m starting to feel really bad that she will begin to panic, we move slowly and I’m trying to build trust with her but each time this “handling panic” happens I’m getting more disheartened about handling :/. The guy we got her from said she was super chill, she’s at the 2.5 year mark so I wonder if it has something to do with her getting older?
Maybe we need to take her out only for a couple of minutes and put her back and try to increase over time? I’m not really sure what to do I just don’t want her to be panicked and upset.
Any tips, advice, or insight welcome. Sincerely, a disheartened leachie caretaker.
Hi everyone, my boyfriend has sleep apnea! Anyways he goes to valley sleep specialist/ valley sleep therapy and they actually blow bags of donkey you know what’s.
Not only have they screwed him around a few times, they provided him the wrong equipment on more than one occasion, and today after anticipating a neurologist appointment with them for more than 3 months (the appt is tomorrow) they call him to tell him that suddenly his $20 appointment has jumped to $90?? Like what.
I’m tired of them screwing him around and we don’t really know where to look for alternatives. Any input is welcome.

UPDATE: had a complete freak out tonight when I realized her tank won’t fit in my car. Boyfriend is unavailable with his truck because of Mother’s Day, and it’s over 100 degrees where I live so that wasn’t really an option anyways. Just booked my a/c uhaul and I’m driving down tomorrow!!!!! I feel crazy!!! Will post pics once we’re settled & I appreciate the kind words 🩷 excited to join the community!!

I am due to pick up a 2.5 year old pine island x nu Ami tomorrow.
One came up in a local buy sale trade 2 hours from me.
This is the gecko that I saw over 13 years ago and made me want to get into geckos, and since have had cresteds, leopards, etc. currently have a gargoyle and off topic a Kenyan sand boa. A dream gecko indeed.
I’m getting her for a super good deal with her tank and everything & I’m not a big spender normally so I’m having anxiety about it in advance. 😭 I am bad at pulling the trigger on large purchases.
I am wondering if this is normal, when you have wanted something for so long and then it’s about to happen and your brain is just like “wtf what I can’t believe it”
Anyways, any input is welcome for a new owner!! She’s coming with her tank which is a fully bioactive 18x24 & 36 high. I am pretty well versed & well prepared. I’m just excited and shocked and I can’t believe it.
