Ghost signs before they were ghosts

From old photos of Denver. These aren’t around anymore though. I wish we could see them today.

It’s been a long time since this beauty was torn down, I wish it could’ve been saved.

My introduction to The Shadow

My dad gave me this a long time ago. I can remember listening to it when I was young and being fascinated and scared. He told me he could remember listening to it on the radio. Released in 1979.

As seen from the train

I saw this one in winter when there weren’t any leaves, but couldn’t get a good photo because the train windows were always dirty.

Can this branch be saved?

This branch broke under the weight of the peaches. Can I wrap plastic/saran wrap it? Or should I just pick the peaches and cut it. Any advice would be appreciated!

Japanese beetles are back

They are infesting our raspberry patch. I go out every day and get as many as possible. I use a small bowl with a drop of soap and water. Usually they will just fall into it, but sometimes I need to shake the plant or even pick it off. I can get as many as 30 at a time! It does seem to help. They eat the leaves and can kill the plant. Last year our patch was almost dead by mid summer.

Cement layer

Doing a remodel in a building built in 1879 and running vents and drains through the floor. Under the subfloor (very thick and hardwood) is a layer of concrete mixed with river rock. Then the joist space. Have you seen this before? What is it’s purpose? Sound dampening? Fire protection? We’ve had to knock it loose then vacuum it out to finish drilling down. It adding time and money buying hole saws.

First real finds

Found the toy gun and old nail in my backyard, and the old bottle cap while camping. Also found a lot of trash while camping.
