A quick and dirty guide from yours truly for the off road fixed gear curious.
I went out and checked out some little cutty suburban trails I’ve been meaning to see. They’re either not on Trailforks or they’re spaghetti on the trail map. I think I came up with a proper loop today which makes it a whole lot better.
Big-ish tires, nice long chainstays, and a big comfy fork offset. Peak OG scorchin!

Extremely lucky that this lap is 2 miles from my house. I also upped the gear to 66” instead of 62” and I’m quite enjoying it for this all-road riding. It’s even fine on the flat singletrack.
Here’s a nice big read to go with your next few morning coffees. Sheldon skews more roadie, saying his standard gear ratios are around 75-76”, but there’s still a lot of great information in here. I’m partial to the Hercules myself.
The B+ Stooge scorcher is absolutely rippin. Mostly ideal on B roads but it rips singletrack too. Did some spooky descents today and kept it rubber side down… can’t ask for much more.
