Deluxe Brewing World Cup Bracket League! Also Trivia on irregular nights this month

To make room for Deluxe Brewing’s Hopped Up Friday Night Kickoff on June 5, Trivia will be on the Second and Third Fridays this month (June 12 and June 19).

In conjunction with Trivia, we are going a bracket league for the World Cup. Follow this link: https://play.fifa.com/bracket-predictor/join-league/DD3ACA05 to create your own bracket and join our league. Prizes for first and second place!

We’ll also be doing some bonus questions related to the World Cup games on the 12th and 19th!

Automatic License Plate Readers are on the agenda for tomorrow’s city council meeting. Please show up and give comment

City Council will be discussing whether or not to reactivate and expand their network of leased Flock ALPR cameras at tomorrow’s meeting.

Automatic License Plate Readers are more than simple cameras. They are part of a network that makes citizen’s movements tractable and searchable. ALPR cameras represent a dangerous expansion of mass surveillance infrastructure that can and will be abused.

Please consider giving comment at tomorrow’s city council meeting or submitting written testimony by noon if you are unable to attend.

Tonight: Automated License Plate Readers: A Community Conversation

Please come to the event tonight at 5 at the Riverfront Community Center to tell the City Council and the Albany Police Department that you do not want mass surveillance in Albany!

Please also go to next week’s city council meeting at 6 PM on May 27th to give public comment or submit written testimony if you can’t make it.

Any idea what these BNSF passenger cars are doing on a Portland and Western (Gennessee) Railway?

Single track Portland and Western railroad that runs through our neighborhood. Generally only comes through twice a night and maybe a short train on the odd day. I’ve never seen passenger cars. As far as I could tell there were no passengers. I’m in western Oregon. Trains going through are usually either coming or going to Toledo or Eugene.
