i have been trying for the past 24hr to set up a douyin account and neither my phone number nor wechat login were doing anything, up until right about now. the thing is, when i type in my phone number it asks for either real name verification or chinese phone number verification, which i cannot do either, but when i try going through wechat, it says it wasn't unable to authorize with weixin. yesterday when i created my wechat account, it never asked for a second person verification, so i don't know if that's the reason why it won't work, but i hope someone could help me. is there anything i could try to make the douyin authorization work with wechat?

i have been trying to start a streak with a friend and it simply won't happen, even though we have tried over the course of multiple months. i already have a streak going with one person, so it definitely works, but it just won't happen with this one specific friend—no clue why. the person i have a streak with also tried starting it with that same friend and it didn't work for them either. i have checked settings if there's a way to turn off streaks—maybe they accidentally had it off—but there was nothing. i am very confused lol

my niece (13) and i (21) are pretty close and she likes to talk to me about a lot of things that go on in her life, and today she told me something very concerning that i am completely unsure how to approach..

a girl from her class today revealed to her and the rest of the class that she SHs, and quite literally went around showing her fresh cuts to everyone. my niece's friend also struggles with SH, and they both found it disrespectful how this kid went on about it. she was hiding it from her family apparently, and they eventually told her older sister and some teacher got involved and she i guess had a conversation about it. she is apparently very extroverted and "doesnt seem to be depressed" (i dont buy it), and its a really complicated, scary situation given their ages.

this has kind of left me completely appalled since i used to struggle with SH too, although i was a bit older, but i still don't know how to appropriately approach this situation. i want to address both the fact that the girl is still clearly struggling with something, and that her friend's issue needs to be taken seriously too, but im honestly at a loss for words. i do not know these kids' parents nor have a way to contact anyone they know, so honestly my only approach would be to just respond in an educational/supportive way and hope that the situation doesnt escalate further.. what do i even say at this..?
