This thing drives me insane

This thing drives me insane

First of all: this photo is inaccurate as hell. It has beeped at me for being “below 55” way more than this in the last 14 days. Today it’s done it four times alone.

It woke me up twice last night alone. Today I ate some lifesaver gummies (like half a bag, work has been a damn time). Half an hour later I’m apparently dying and below 55. No, no I am not.

An hour and a half ago, I’m eating dinner. A bowl of pasta. Apparently I’m below 55. No, no I am not. I had a jello and tapioca pudding for dessert. Just now I’m apparently below 55 again. No, no I am not.

Night before last it woke me up twice. Sensor before this, same thing. I am so sick of this thing. I used the first Libre years ago and HATED IT for constantly being inaccurate. I switched to the Medtronic Guardian. Was it bulky? Yeah. Did I have to calibrate every 12 hours? Sure. Did I have to change it once a week? Yup.

But was it always accurate and actually do the damn thing it’s supposed to? Yes. I will NEVER forgive Medtronic for discontinuing the product. Ever. Now they have a new one where you HAVE to be insulin dependent and use their stupid insulin pen to get it. I have boxes of old sensors and they just… discontinued the app and sensors. I hate them so much. They had 24/7 support and everything. And the new Dexcoms are just as bad as the Libre 3s with inaccuracy.

I’m tired. These last two sensors weren’t even from the same batch. It is 2026. Why can’t this crap just WORK? Does anyone else have these issues? 😭😭😭

Get in the floor lamp, Shinji.

I’m sure I looked real weird making a beeline for this random lamp at IKEA just to take a photo and calmly walk away.

Stain remover worked too well?

I’ve had this happen before and man, I’m mad. Had oil stains on my favorite black hoodie, used some oxi clean on it, washed it immediately on cold (I never dry it, always hang dry), and now the spot is lighter than the hoodie itself.

What the heck are you supposed to do for oil/grease stains on black/dark fabric???? Ugh, this hoodie wasn’t cheap. I’m so upset.

Edit: it’s 68% cotton and 32% polyester

Update: Now that it’s dry it kinda fixed itself but the oil stain is still there??

Hawlucha never spawned for me

Dunno if venting is allowed lol. But I honestly don’t know what the hell I did wrong. The only time it spawned for me was when I used the incense, and when I did, I was only able to get it up to one away from complete, so I couldn’t even catch it. Meanwhile my friend got a shiny one last night and people are posting left and right about theirs and their sightings are popping up in my inbox from other people’s.

I also almost never get shinies. I never get the food exp procs (I don’t know the technical term either) when the chance is allegedly high, either. Why is my RNG so bad?

Traveling for surgery

Hi y’all!

So I’m traveling for my third (and hopefully last) endo surgery. I used to live in LA, and now I live in Texas. I love my surgeon and I see no reason to find a new one lol.

My husband goes back and forth for work anyways; he found us a nice quaint little AirBnB not too far from the hospital and near his office so he’ll only be a couple blocks away if I need help. It’s all a single story, bed is the perfect height, and we’ll go grocery shopping ahead of time so I can have what foods I need post op.

Not being in my own home for the first time does have me anxious about not packing everything I need/having supplies handy, so I figured I’d ask y’all for things I should pack and/or order ahead of time. My old roommates are kind enough to let me order things to their place and they’ll bring them over to save me from having to fly with them.

So far I know I’m packing:
- my swan pillow (to help keep me from rolling over on my side those first few days lol)
- a heating pad
- the very specific ice pack I like
- my Japanese capybara stuffed animal I have that is perfectly shaped for holding when I have cramps (I swear, it was designed for this)
- another specific pillow I like (you never know what the Airbnb pillows are like lol)
- my favorite throw blanket for when I watch tv on the couch
- pads
- Dial bar soap (my surgeon requires I use this before and after surgery)

What I know I’m going to order:
- emesis bags (yay, anesthesia)
- period boxers or disposable period panties for post op bleeding (I’ve heard great things about the Always Zzz disposable panties, would love to hear any input if y’all have used them)

I know there’s probably things I’m not thinking of because I’m just used to being in my home and having everything readily available. All of my post op medications will be picked up at the hospital the day of my surgery. Ralph’s and Trader Joe’s won’t be too far, either.

If y’all have ever flown post op and have tips for that too, I’m all ears. We specifically booked the front row for the flight back so I have as much room as possible (Southwest flight).

Thanks in advance <3

Stargate Pinball!

Went to Next Level outside of Portland today (never been to Oregon before and some friends took us), and found a Stargate pinball machine!! It was actually super fun. Got a high score of 365M.. which was nowhere near the 13B on the top 10 list lol.

Took some pics to post here. :) Sorry for the glare, the overhead lights made it a bit difficult. 😅 Before this “my pinball machine” was the 24 one but the fuse went out on the wall it was on. I kept walking and stumbled upon Stargate and got so pumped. It’s definitely my new favorite.

Can’t figure out how to clean coffee grinder

So I was gifted one of these Bodum bean grinders years ago by a friend (he upgraded to some wild grinder), and I gotta say, I love this thing. What I don’t love, though, is the material it’s made out of.

It’s that weird, like, rubbery silicone-type material that is great in concept, but in reality if you let a speck of dust get on it, it’s over. It becomes sticky and getting said dust off of it is physically impossible. You try to wipe it down with a wet paper towel and the paper towel just rips to shreds. Any cloth you use just gets stuck.

I tried to soak the lid (the photo shows a clear plastic lid, mine is a red one made of the same material as the body) in a vinegar-water mixture overnight and that didn’t do anything! Vinegar! Vinegar failed me! I left a cloth soaked in the same solution wrapped on the machine and no luck there, either.

I’m at a loss, Reddit. I don’t know how to clean this thing. Please help me, because I’m at a total loss, here.

Stinky garbage disposal

So it doesn’t stink every day, but every 5-7 days, I find myself needing to stick a plink or two in there. I’ll be standing over the sink and sometimes it smells musky, and sometimes it smells rotten. I’ll stick my hand (with a dish glove, I’m not a monster) in there and make sure there’s nothing in there to the best of my abilities, pour any leftover boiling water from my kettle down there to help flush things out, etc. but the smell will always come back.

Today it smelled like something died in there and I decided I’ve had enough and I’d come to Reddit and ask for help.

Additional context: It’s one large sink (so not split), new build (Q4 2022), and I live in central Texas so our water is hard.

Has Maps always taken up this much space?

For additional context: I do **not** have any offline maps downloaded. So this seems a bit odd (or I’m an idiot lol).

Friend’s phone got locked in her Waymo, was able to help remotely

At my friend’s college graduation and she called me from her smart watch panicked because her Waymo dropped her off and she dropped her phone in the car getting out, and it locked with it in it. She repeatedly tried to open it and support tried calling in the car, but didn’t hear her.

I decided to open up a chat and see if I could assist. I gave them her name and location, let them know the situation and they asked for the email address she used to book and the license plate and told me to tell her “to have her keep touching or holding onto the car so it didn’t leave.”

Once the agent got the license plate, she was able to immediately unlock the car and save the day. It would have been a lot quicker if I could use speaker phone (it’s loud as hell in this arena lol), but they were quick and got it done.

Figured I’d share a happy Waymo story lol

Has anyone purchased the canless recessed lights and used them to replace already existing canless recessed lights? I can’t seem to find any installation videos without showing folks actually cutting holes and doing everything from scratch, so to speak.

We have a new build and we made the mistake of not checking or knowing and bought a bunch of the can recessed lights so we’re a bit paranoid on buying the canless ones (which I didn’t know existed until the other day?) because it’s hard to tell how they’re installed into existing fixtures.

Hopefully my question makes sense. 😭 Thanks in advance!
