Never was able to have the Western Playmobil line growing up, now I have kids, and an eBay account!

when I was a kid, I always wanted sets from the Playmobil Western line. I spent way too much time looking at the catalogs, but it never happened. Now that I have kids, it’s been incredibly fun collecting and building them all together. No more eBay for me though, this is a good stopping point!

Built a home office that transforms into a tiki bar!

After what feels like a million hours of work, I finally reached the point where I felt comfortable sharing my home tiki bar.

It's still very much a work in progress. The structure is finally where I wanted it: faux rock walls, lauhala matting, a jungle ceiling, custom cabinetry, and enough room to function as both my home office during the day and tiki bar at night.

Now comes the fun part - filling the shelves, dialing in the lighting, adding artifacts, building the menu, and slowly layering in all the little details that make a tiki space feel lived in, which all can be done with rum in-hand.

This project has definitely consumed more time (and money) than I ever planned, but seeing it finally come together has made it worth it.

Looking forward to hearing what you all think, and I'm always open to ideas for the finishing touches.

Cheers!

Got a great haul of Mugs today, thought I’d have room for them all, but sadly, I definitely don’t. I’d be interested in selling a few!

I have a few of them on EBay but I’m understanding EBay takes a fat cut! let me know if you’re interested!

Advice on wall texture for home tiki bar.

Hi all!

just bought a place and I am currently building an in home tiki bar, which doubles as my home office during the weekdays.

I’ve done some AI rendering, but I’m trying to figure out how to best apply my ebony bamboo panels and lauhala matting to the wall On the right of the pic.

They are both four feet in width/height, meaning they would divide my 8ish foot wall in half.

would it look weird if each 4’x8’ wall texture occupied the exact same height, one above the other? or should I level the dark bamboo with the desk/bar (2.5’), and compensate with extra lauhala on the top layer (making it 6.5’ of lauhala on top)?
