Friend of 6 years has time for everyone but me.
My long time friend who I have a matching tattoo with hasn't spoken to me for months as I've not chosen to initiate it. Even when she did speak to me, it was brief and always excuses why she can't talk more but she loves me and misses me so much and can't wait to meet up and do something again. When I have ideas of doing something or something comes up I wanna do with her she always has a reason why she can't do it. She's ill, she's on her period, she has no money. If I look at her socials she's always going out with other people drinking and going out for food but has no time for me. Known her for 6 years and she helped me through the death of my mother. I tell her how much I miss and appreciate her existence and she tells me the same and then when I say, can we meet up, it's always, "Aw I'm sick right now. Maybe next month." Next month comes, "I'm on my period and basically bed bound, I'll let you know when I'm okay." Never get a text. It was always me who checked in. Now I don't because it just leaves me sad and kills my self esteem trying to get anything out of her. I feel like I care more than she does. I have confronted her about why she never bothers to check in and she said I was selfish so I apologised to her and don't mention it again. She also went through a phase of boasting about her other friends and sending me all these photos of them out together and I felt like, is this rubbing it in my face. She has time for everyone but me even with our long and intense history. It hurts so much. I have autism so really struggle to understand intensions and why people do things. I've met a wonderful person at work who has been a brilliant friend to me and I've just really put effort into showing the appreciation and love to her she deserves. I'm going through a chronic illness progressing and struggle at work sometimes, she's always there for me even though she has other friends I haven't met, a boy friend, close sister etc. She has time for me. So I always show love and offer my time to her, isn't that friendship? We get on so well and have respect, love and most importantly time for each other. That's what I think is a valuable relationship. I've never been good with people due to autism and ADHD, never understood them so I just want genuine advice here. Is this person worth my time or am I selfish and over reacting? Is my friend from work a proper friendship and how friends should behave?
