Why do they all like to hang out on this rock together?

This tank is fairly new, hence no algae. The rock is directly under the light. Are they maybe eating algae that is growing faster in that location? Or are they just having a meeting? This is a 2.5gal.

Do I need to help this baby hummingbird?

Location: Los Angeles County. He's hanging onto the nest by his back legs and just dangling. No way he has the strength to get back in but idk if this is part of the fledgling process or if I should put him back in with his sibling. Mom is real mad and freaks out if I even look at the nest.

First of all: fuck you r/amitheasshole for deleting this post.

I'm out of town for a conference and an old friend who lives in the area offered to host me. She mentioned off the bat that it's a small studio and that she's had some major health problems (non-contagious) in recent years. At first I was eager to stay with her not necessarily for the free lodging but to help her get around, run errands, and generally just not be alone.

But when I got in, the place was absolutely filthy. Trash and clutter all over, every surface except the nightstand and kitchen table coated in thick dust, the bathroom and kitchen sinks made me gag with how much mold and grime and soggy food chunks were in them. I'm susceptible to food poisoning so I was genuinely worried about eating the food she prepared me. There's no soap at the bathroom sink. A nearly empty bottle of all-purpose cleaning product but no bleach or anything and all the sponges look like they survived a nuclear winter.

On top of that, the air mattress she laid out (1) was a tripping hazard for herself (bc of the clutter it was crammed between) and (2) had a huge leak so I ended up basically sleeping on the hard floor the first night.

So at this point I'm staying in a squalorous little apartment over an hour away from the conference location with a sick friend and sleeping on the floor while feeling like I need to walk on eggshells because she has a lot of things, from specific words to levels of energy/activity/noise, that can trigger an episode of sickness, and I feel like she's gonna trip and fall on her face every time she squeezes past my deflated air mattress.

At first I thought to stick it through and clean up for her since this must be the kind of help she needs. But I just felt hella grossed out and worried that me being there was going to make things harder for her, not easier. She kept acting like everything's fine but it was obvious that her energy levels are nowhere where she thinks/wants them to be.

I just didn't know what to do and didn't want to abandon her but I was hella uncomfortable so I booked a hotel for the remaining nights and told her I was staying with a colleague from the conference whose place was closer to the venue. But I feel so guilty for leaving her by herself. Idk if the filth of the apartment is because she's too sick to clean or if she's just nasty like some people are. Either way, I feel really guilty and sad. So AITA for leaving my friend by herself in her nasty-ass apartment and disrespecting her offer of hospitality?
