I moved to nyc from the Midwest and I miss Culvers

I moved 2 weeks ago and I honestly really miss the Midwest in general. Yes the public transit is nice but I miss having access to nature… and Culvers… and getting Culver’s and eating it at a forest preserve. I feel like a country bumpkin missing the woods right now but I moved from Chicago to NYC lol. Even Chicago has a lot more access to nature. Thankfully my masters program is only 2 years! So if I do end up not liking NYC, I can always move back to an area with Culvers lol

Culvers… come to nyc please!

Difficulty maintaining friendships due my relationship with my parents

I feel like most people don’t understand what it’s like to have parents who abuse you. It’s so hard for me to make friends. I always end up being too much to handle for most people since the first people I talk about my problems with are my friends… I basically only have 5 friends in my life and those are people that I don’t share much with. Everyone else has stopped talking to me. One of my friends even said that I was making excuses when I tried to explain my situation… I’m feeling so incredibly hopeless and lost. I am alone, I will always be alone. I am god’s lonely man.

My parents won’t let me sleep

I feel so exhausted because the only time I get to be alone is late at night but they wake me up at 6 am and they don’t let me nap at all. I am drained. I’m moving out in less than three weeks thankfully.

I’m moving out soon but my parents are threatening to throw away all my belongings if I do

I don’t have a great relationship with my parents and they’re not happy about me moving at all. They’re saying if I decide to move, they’ll throw away everything I leave behind and move back to our home country. I understand that my mother is just saying this to control me or guilt me, but I don’t want my things to get thrown out. Unfortunately I’m moving across the country so I can’t bring a lot with me. I was thinking about getting a storage unit near my parent’s house, but that might be expensive. Honestly I’m considering just biting the bullet and letting them throw a lot of stuff out. It sucks but my options seem limited. The main things I want to protect that I may or may not be able to bring are my books, my handmade ceramics and art, and my stuffed animals.

i’m distracted by this gorgeous handsome goddess in my new favorite bl…

From: dreaming of the dokkaebi

Reuploaded my post since I fucked up the last one and immediately fell asleep after lol. Her name is jeoseung samsim and she’s the goddess of childbirth and fertility. She’s hot as fuck but I also love her design. I feel like most people interpret a goddess of fertility to have very feminine features, so I like that she’s androgynous. She’s still very motherly though!

Again I apologize for not properly cropping my previous post! Anyways, I’m very down bad for her and I had a dream about her last night 😩 I love BLs with beautiful female characters because I’m bisexual and I get more to look at 😛

Her name is jeoseung samsin and I believe she’s the goddess of fertility/childbirth? She’s so hot though I could barely focus on the story because I was drooling over her… my bisexual heart is happy 😳

Does anyone live with their parents even though their parents seemingly despise them lol

I live with my parents after I graduated college and they don’t like me at all. They provide me with shelter and I am thankful for that but they tend to use me a punching bag (physical, emotional, mental, etc.). It’s honestly exhausting and suffocating. The only time I have peace is at night but they make sure to wake me up when they wake up and if I try to take naps during the day they bang on my door (if it’s locked), open my door (even if it’s locked) and scream at me until I’m awake. Because of this I’ve become a light sleeper again and any sounds will wake me up.

Thankfully I’m going to grad school soon but they’re not happy about that either. They are actively praying on my downfall and trying to make me quit the program. I’m not sure why they want me to considering they don’t want me to be at home. I’m just trying to hold on for the next couple of months until I move out. I feel like I am on the verge of collapsing though.

Questions for C6 Columbina havers

Hello! My Columbina is at c4 and I’m planning on getting her to c6 when she reruns. To those of yall that have her at c6, how are you liking her? She’s basically become the only character I consistently have on my overworld team and also my first level 100 character (I am not a whale, just a launch player).

Does anyone play her as a dps? If yes, what artifact set do you prefer using? I sometimes use her a bloom dps.

Is there a significant power increase from c4 to c6? I’m still pulling either way but I’m just curious. I’m excited for her rerun and I hope everyone’s pulls go well!

Moving to NYC for grad school, I need advice!

I’m moving to NYC for a grad program. My stipend will be 37k with the potential of being 43k if I do research during the summers (which I’m planning on). I’ll be moving from Chicago. I received my funding offer on Friday and I accepted, but I’m lost on how to move. I’m prepared to have roommates and commute a little, I’m used to taking the train since I live in Chicago. I understand my stipend is low but this is my only chance to escape my abusive family and continuing doing what I love. I am frugal and I can manage living on that much money. My university is located in Manhattan but there’s no way I can afford living there! Does anyone have any advice? I’m really lost on where to start.

I received an offer from CUNY for their funded masters (yay!) I will be accepting but I guess I have a few questions, so if anyone has any suggestions or insight please let me know!

My end goal of my schooling is to get a PhD. I guess my question is how much will this master hurt/help me? I am already “””behind””” by a year and this program means I will be “”””delayed”””” in starting a PhD program by 2 more years. Do PhD programs get shorter if you have a masters? I guess I’m not excited about being in grad school for 7-8 years, but this is what I love.

My next question is, has anyone done this program or know anyone that has? What was it like? It’s hard to find information online.

My last question is, if I don’t get into phd programs after I finish my masters (or somehow change my mind) what options for jobs do I have with a masters in astrophysics? Is it mostly the same as someone with a bachelor’s? (I did my bachelor’s in math & physics). My end goal (for my career) is to work in a national lab or observatory.

This is my second year applying to graduate school, and I can finally share good news. I had basically given up all hope and accepted that it was over for me. I pushed through and applied to this fully funded masters program (2 years of funding!!!), with no expectations since I knew it would be competitive. They interviewed me on Wednesday and sent an offer LAST NIGHT!!!????!!!! I’ve been so giddy and excited and I can’t wait to celebrate this news with the people close to me. I feel such a huge weight off my shoulders and I can FINALLY say that I’m studying to be an astrophysicist, and in fact I WILL BE an astrophysicist in the future.

I just want to thank everyone in this subreddit for watching me struggle through this journey. It definitely hasn’t been easy, but I’ve met so many amazing scientists and had so many people encourage me to keep going. I literally would not be here without you guys. I would’ve given up a long time ago if it wasn’t for all the thoughtful comments I get. I will be back next year for phd applications again, but for now, I will be attending a funded masters program in the fall and continuing research in something I deeply love and enjoy ❤️
