Crappy MyQ app worse than usual and erroring out on required MFA update

Chamberlain has sent out an email saying that users must update their accounts to use MFA.

The only method to update the account is to use the app, according to both the email and their website.

When trying to make the change in the app as per the instructions (https://support.chamberlaingroup.com/s/article/myQ-App-How-to-Set-Up-MFA-Two-Step-Verification), the app reports "Error There was an error connecting to the server. Please check your connection and try again". I am connected to the internet. This has been the case for the last two hours.

I called support and their response was "try again tomorrow". There was no offer to follow up or escalate, and when I asked for such was told everyone was having the problem and to just call back if it continued.

I potentially cannot remotely control my garage door opening without their proprietary app, which they and only they control. They have sole gatekeeping capability with no backup, and obviously without sufficient capacity/infrastructure available.

I should not potentially be barred from being able to control my GDO due to issues with their servers and artificially imposed deadlines and account requirements by corporate policies.

I also resent the ugly ads and "alerts" that are more ads it tries to shove down my throat just to open my GDO. And half the time the thing takes forever to connect, or just times out. If Chamberlain wants to gatekeep access to my garage door while forcing ads down my throat, they should at least invest some of that ad revenue in providing a working app and infrastructure to adequately support it.

Help save independent media! Donate to Channel 5 & Andrew Callahan vs frivolous lawsuits by a custer

We love Channel 5 and Andrew's documentaries - we support them on Patreon, because they cover both serious and whack topics in ways the mainstream never will or won't touch.

Now they're being sued into oblivion (not by Melanie Trump this time, some totally obscure millionaire) and can't afford the lawsuit and to keep running the news channel.

Got five bucks to help keep non-mainstream news happening? Here's the GoFundMe.

Got five minutes to watch and like on YooToob to help boost them with the algorithm? Here's the skinny on the lawsuit.

Got time and money for indie news month over month? Here's the Patreon!

Not affiliated, never met them, just think what they do is important and done pretty well overall.

Fortunato is selling their 1 lb Maranon bars, you can pre-order now

Not actually my business, but I wanted to share / promote as their chocolate is some of the best I've ever had. So if you are looking for some of the best, rarest chocolate in the world: Fortunato (based in the US state of Washington) is taking orders for their Maranon 1 lb blocks which have been out of stock for a couple years due to supply chain and crop raising issues. It's ridiculously cheap at US$33 plus shipping.

This is an AI-generated blurb as to why I hold it to be the best chocolate, bar none (forgive the pun):

Marañón Chocolate (specifically its Fortunato No. 4 line) is considered the best in the world due to a perfect storm of history, genetics, and flavor:

  • The Resurrection of a Legend: For centuries, Pure Nacional cacao was the gold standard of chocolate, but it was declared extinct in 1919 after a catastrophic blight. In 2007, it was rediscovered growing wild in Peru's isolated, high-altitude Marañón Canyon. The USDA genetically certified it as the "lost" heirloom strain.

  • The Rare White Beans: Unlike standard purple cacao beans, which are full of bitter tannins, Marañón pods contain a massive amount of rare mutant white beans. These lack bitter pigments entirely, resulting in a naturally sweet, mellow, and ultra-creamy chocolate with almost zero bitterness, even at 68% or higher.

  • Unmatched Flavor: The combination of the canyon's microclimate and the white beans creates a unique flavor profile featuring intense floral notes, dark stone fruits, and toasted nuts, with a luxurious, silky melt.

  • Old-World Craftsmanship: Because white and purple beans ferment differently, it took 81 trials just to master the harvest. The beans are processed in Switzerland using antique, slow-roller conching machines to preserve their delicate flavors rather than blasting them away with modern, high-heat equipment.

> In short: It is a resurrected ancient treasure, naturally genetically blessed to taste smoother and more complex than any other chocolate on Earth.

One (the short one) had to be relocated two years ago and hasn't been happy about it, but seems to be recovering. The other seems to be going gangbusters.

We life near the bottom of a very long, steep hill so while we have heavy clay soil we also have pretty good drainage. The yard gets alot of hot afternoon sun as well.
