yes, that's XP (or POS) in use today

not the best image in the world from my phone, but I thought this was cool when I was travelling this morning. haven't seen XP on a public device since like 2019, or even 7 in years, so this must be an 'it works, don't touch it!!' situation.

Here we go!

Going from PB2 to PB3. Hopefully be similar to DB3, that was great for a Beta release

27 Public Beta 2 battery drain over DB3

Basically the title, is anyone else having battery drain issues with PB2/ DB4 that weren't the case with previous betas?

I seem to be having significantly faster drain in the week since upgrading, where my drain after indexing on Developer Beta 3 was actually similar to how it was on 26, and not too bad (iPhone 13 mini)- I thought this might be because I'd switched on a second SIM, but turning that off for days and same issue.

Hopefully will be fixed in the next betas.

Liquid Glass... less "glassy" in areas

Left is iOS 26, right is 27, both on light mode. I downloaded iOS 27 to try and so far the performance benefits are absolutely brilliant on my old iPhone 12. I've noticed that with the whole 'understated' redesign of liquid glass elements, the interface loses some of its refraction and looks a bit more dull (ie the search bar in the App Library) - even with the Liquid Glass slider all the way over to "More Clear".
I know the Control Centre is another area that's been mentioned before - left is iOS 26 Beta for an extreme comparison but 27 just doesn't look very glass-like even with this setting turned all the way up? I feel like I'd want a bit more of an emphasis on that kind of design with the slider all the way over.

iOS 27 users, is Safari fixed?

I upgraded from iOS 17 to 26 this year and ever since through each incremental update I've had one consistent issue - Safari takes 15+ seconds after opening to start loading a page on my iPhone 13 mini. This includes WebKit views inside apps ie login pages. Chrome is instantaneous.

Anyone that had issues with Safari on iOS 26, have they been fixed for you?

PAYG now 20GB for £9!

I switched back to EE in late 2024 when I saw their 20GB/m for 6 months or whatever offer at the time, wanting the stability of the bigger network. Definitely got that especially now 5G is offered (albeit limited). Well, I JUST switched to 1pmobile a week ago to get a better deal since after the trial period it reverted to 8GB/m and wasn't as good value.

Just went into Aldi today and they're selling SIMs now with that same 20GB/m as standard, no trial period. Went online and you can do the same thing I did and pay £9/m if you use a Direct Debit.

Worthwhile for anyone who doesn't need much data/ doesn't want to be locked into a contract and wants a solid network with good coverage so I thought I'd post here. You're still getting those speed caps even if you lock yourself into a contract with them so might as well go PAYG with EE.
