My 2-year-old dog died after vet gave pre-anesthesia despite saying gas only
I lost my dog shes a mini pin and just 2 years old. The vet told me the procedure would use gas anesthesia only. I even have a receipt stating that. But during the actual procedure, they injected her with a pre-anesthetic drug first. She didn’t survive.
It’s been 3 months, and I still can’t accept it. I feel so much loss, regret, pain, and I miss her every day.
The vet only told me afterward that “she didn’t make it because there’s no screening for anesthesia allergy, maybe it’s in her genes.” They even asked if she had siblings so I could warn them. That explanation doesn’t ease the pain, and I feel misled because I wasn’t told about the injection beforehand.
My question is: does it really make sense that she died because of the pre-anesthesia drug? Or was this negligence?
She had a blood parasite and was scheduled for surgery to treat pyometra. I feel misled because I wasn’t told about the injection beforehand. If I had known, I would have asked more questions or reconsidered.
