How Often Do Companies in the UAE Give Salary Raises and Promotions?

I recently received a job offer in the UAE with a salary of AED 10,000 per month (no housing, just visa & health insurance, relocation amount, first month hotel stay, and a flight home every year), While I’m excited about the opportunity, the salary is lower than I had hoped, especially since I’ll be relocating from abroad specifically for this role.

The company is a large, well-known government-owned organization, and I believe the experience would be excellent for my career.

Would you recommend accepting the offer? How common are salary increases in the UAE? Is there a typical timeline or standard for raises, particularly at large government or government-owned companies? I’m also wondering whether starting at AED 10,000 could lead to significantly higher pay after gaining a year or two of experience. FYI I’m in marketing entry level.

Also, anyone lives in Dubai and drives to abudhabi daily for work? How is it? How long does it take during rush hours? I’m considering doing this since apartments in Abu Dhabi are significantly higher than Dubai.

HR career in Canada?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been considering enrolling in a one-year post-graduate diploma in Human Resources, as many of these programs include internships, and it seems that a lot of students are able to secure full-time positions after completing them.

A little background about me: I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Marketing, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to land a job in the field. As a result, I’ve been exploring other career paths, and HR is one area that has caught my interest.

I’d love to hear from those of you working in HR. What has your experience been like? What areas of HR would you recommend looking into? What do you enjoy most about your role, and what are some of the challenges? How are the growth opportunities and overall job prospects? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Best Master’s Degree for Future Opportunities in Syria?

Hey everyone, I’m Syrian living in Canada. I studied business with a focus in marketing, graduated, and I’m currently working here.

I’ve been thinking about pursuing a master’s degree and also about the future opportunities in Syria as things hopefully continue developing over the next few years.

For those familiar with the market there, what master’s degrees do you think would be the most valuable/in demand for Syria’s future? MBA, data/business analytics, supply chain, tech-related fields, HR, something else? And what industries or opportunities do you think are likely to grow in Syria in the upcoming years?

Would love to hear your thoughts and advice.
