These look like Futhark to me but Othala is upside down and I don't think the third rune is right thought I feel like I've seen it before.

Can anyone decode this? If it helps, it's a label on a box holding live beetles.

Baldur's Gate 3 - 44🐣Transfemme

I'm very newly cracked, just peeking out of the shell for the past 4 months or so.

I've been wanting to play BG3 (PC) for a long time. I tried to play with a previous friend group but the dynamics didn't work out. I've tried playing solo but I just can't do it alone.

I take the RP side of these types of games seriously and try to play as if the PCs are real, not just avatars. That doesn't mean RPing beyond in-game behaviour, but I'm not opposed to adding that in, if others want it. I like to figure out group dynamics and play style in advance so everyone is going in on the same page.

I'd really like to play through the whole game with some kindred spirits. If what I've put gives you a good vibe, please let me know. Clarification questions welcome!

Transition as core game concept: Bad idea or good idea?

I did a search for this first and came up with a lot of threads about representation and playing characters as trans but nothing specifically about this. If I missed a thread, please let me know, I'd like to read it.

This is an unhatched egg (yes, that is a pun, I can't help myself) of an idea, it occurred to me and I wanted to ask for feedback before I started to really develop it. So, pure imagination...

You start the game and have a character creator, you design your character as you'd like them to be then start the story. At the start of the story, your playable character is the opposite gender (possibly, appearance chosen randomly). Through the game play (levelling up? gaining items?) your character slowly becomes the one you created at the start.

That's the whole idea, just wanted to get people's vibes off it.

EDIT: To summarize points from discussion so far:

  • If you aren't going to be the character you want to be right from the start, clear warning should be given
  • It might be a better approach to start with a "bland" nondescript character that is changed over the course of play
  • Possible models for ideas/application: I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, Disco Elysium, Sunless Seas/Skies, Pokemon ROM hack
  • Careful execution of transition mechanic
  • Potential natural inclusion of physical difference

Parsing Double Feature

Got snagged by two intersecting clues today...

"Garments from the centre of Belarus for Poles (6)": >!Answer is APRONS, I see the Poles being North and South. Can't figure out APRO, though...!<

"Short acknowledgement outside university for scoundrel (5)": >!Answer is ROGUE, I'm assuming RE is the short acknowledgement. If I'm right, that makes OGU a university, somehow...!<

Always very obliged to the cryptic community!

Hypothetical: Everyone goes to heaven

For the sake of the hypothetical, grant that

  1. a version of the Abrahamic deity exists, is all knowing, all powerful, and all good
  2. all people, regardless of belief or behavior, go to heaven (follows from #1 "all good")
  3. in #2's heaven all wrongs are forgiven, all pains are removed, all sorrows eased, and everyone lives in peace eternally
  4. the deity will answer any questions you pose fully and honestly

If you arrived in such a heaven, but maintained your rational and critical mind, what questions would you ask the deity?

Knife gag three times

I saw it recently and now can't recall the name.

Someone gets stabbed, shoulder I think, and someone else runs up and pulls the knife out and then someone yells "don't pull it out" and the person shoves it back into the wound.

I feel like three different people did it ina sequence to the person.

Parsing Assistance (AKA Buhhuhwah?)

To the always fast and helpful crossword community, the clue is "Greek letter taken up? Cheers! (5)". >!The answer is DELTA which is the Greek letter. "taken up" in a down clue suggests a reversal to me but ATLED gets me nowhere, so...!<
