How to keep temps lower? Gen 2

We love pizza and we are learning still.

I got a gen 2, just got it, propane only. We have learned a lot on our first 3 pizzas and I learned even more reading this reddit. Im having to a hard time seeing how people keep the temps lower without overlooking. I just did garlic rolls and didn't need it 700, at least I don't think i do. I got the oven to 500 and then put the rolls in and let the tops brown and then turned the oven off and it worked.

But that was for a 6 minute cook... what about for large steaks and other things? Like a thicker cut of meat is going to need a lot longer to cook. And I would have to keep turning the flame back on and reheating the oven when trying to sit under 500

Thanks+

▲ 4 r/Scams

Experienced the weirdest scam situation ever? Dialed a number from eventticketscenter.com and got a scam center...

Mystery solved: I realized now I dialed a number on the order status page, of the private reseller, and when I did, I pushed a 7 instead of a 4 on the last number. Anyways. I now have the phone number of a scam center that apparently no one has every reported afaik. Thanks to the comments asking me to check my browser history... that solved it.

Hi... I asked AI and its skeptical, and maybe you will be too, but I am spooked.

I ordered expensive tickets to a show for 2 family members, and we haven't gotten the tickets yet, the event is tomorrow. So, I called the reseller via a phone number at the bottom of a FAQ, which was linked in an email from the reseller.

It immediately connected me to someone after confirming 1 for English. A guy answered and I told him I needed help understanding where my tickets were. He then asked me a bunch of verification questions, like the order number, etc. He then told me he was going to ask the department involved with this to send me the tickets over night. I thought this was strange, he also told me there was a promotion and I was caller #45 and won 100 dollars, and he asked me for a debit card/CC. He was really pushy, I thought it was weird, obviously, and refused to give him a card. He got my address, email, phone number, name, order #, order date, from me for these tickets.

He then tells me its fine, I will get the tickets tomorrow and then gives me the direct number to call to the group he was talking to, he then gave me a 555 1212 phone number and I immediately clicked that this was a scam. I then turned it on him being like, are you trying to scam me? he hung up.

Here is the really spooky part. I checked my phone log, and went back to the FAQ page and the number showing in my log is different then the number showing on the FAQ page - I hand dialed the number on the page.

I understand that scammers can spoof pages, but I retraced my steps, clicked the link from my email, etc, and have been unable to reproduce it. I googled and researched the number I dialed and its no where to be found on the internet, no one has reported it, etc. Wtf?

I know that I dialed the number from the FAQ page, because there wasn't any other pages open and I wouldn't of dialed a random number like this, its not 1 digit off, its almost every digit is off.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? AI thinks there is no way that my phone is compromised or that it spoofed my number some how. I am just baffled honestly. I am waiting for my cell carrier to update their logs to see if it says the number there as well.

Unfortunately I don't really have any recourse to contact the private seller, but at the same time, I don't think they do either.

Anyways, has anyone experienced this before?

Hey everyone,

I've been a solo developer building a 40k tournament training app called Wardrill for the past several months and I'm soft-launching it today. Since it first started off as a solution to drill/quiz myself, the original name stuck with combining WAR! with Drill, so it is aptly named, Wardrill. The app isn't officially released yet, well, it is on the web, but the original goal was a phone app. However, due to the pains with iOS, I knew I needed to get a web version up to be able to bridge the gap for now. Good news is that it will work almost just as well on your phone with the web version as the app will!

The url to the tool:

https://wardrill.app

This is the beta and soft-launch phase, and I'd love feedback from this community specifically because you're the people whose use case I built it for. As a solo dev here, launching his first app, and also who doesn't play every single faction in the game, I know that there will be issues found here and there and that is also why I am soft launching this to you all to start using it, for free. I think I have done as much "testing" as I humanely can at this point before exhaustion death.

Quick about me: Again, I'm a solo dev who plays casually, narratively, and competitively 40k.  I enjoy competitive the most. The app started as something I built for myself to actually study my own lists and figure out matchups, then grew from there. As I am older now, and have a lot less time, I am finding myself basically just slapping lists together and going to competitive events, without practice most times. I am sure and I know many who are also in this same situation I am in, where they feel stuck at mid tables, struggling with the clock bearing down on them, hitting a ceiling with those who know their army super well, who can play daily/weekly and trying to compete with that. Maybe you are like me and work a full time job, have kids to take care of, but still want to do your best and love the sport of competitive play.

Really what did it for me, was an event I went to before starting this, where I got clocked out hard on round 3. It really bothered me for days after that, I almost quit the hobby. In the past, I had done the ole index card stuff with my family before majors and it worked decently well, but, I wanted something I could do on my phone. I wanted something that could quiz me on MY list too, not just naked datasheet data. I also wanted it to be really easy to just to jump in and plug a list in and go.

With that being the primary goal, the app, much like many things in my life, branched off on a tangent into a number of programs, that I hope you will find use for.

So if it's not clear who this is for...

Who is this for

This is not for the super competitive hardcore players out there, already achieving constant wins, sitting at top tables. They may not find any use for this app, and that is perfectly fine. This app is for new players and mid table players like myself, to help them get to the next level.

Is it free?

I speak about this later, but yes, almost every feature in this app is free. The only things that cost money are things that cost me money, like API calls, and even then, I give free users free tokens per month in hopes that either 1. they will eventually support me or 2. appreciate giving these things a try once and a while for free. As for the API part....

The LLM Question

Going to get this out, right out the gate, while I am generally indifferent about AI and know its a big elephant in the room with this community, the app here does use AI. Why does it use AI? well, while I tried to work around it as much as possible in creating a calc engine and quiz engine that doesn't touch it, there are some admittedly really cool things you can do with an LLM if you force it to analyze specific databases and knowledge basis. What does that mean? There are a few features (that you don't have to use) that use API calls that use two specific custom made databases that I made for it and other non-LLM features. One is a game database that includes every detail about the game, all the rules, etc, and the other is an exhaustive knowledgebase system that contains competitive philosophy for 10th edition. This is not like going to chatgpt and asking it a question and it finds some reddit posts, or takes something from random websites, and confidently gives you an opinion or fact. This is tied down to directly use my databases, and the quality will show if you try it out.

The cool thing is, if you don't care for this, then you don't have to use it and the main quiz and DPS tools do not use LLMs in any shape or form. Since I give you free tokens to use these, once per month, you can try it out without any hassle, a cost for me (my API cost) and not for you in this case, but it is something I think can be very helpful. I will speak on this on the programs below but wanted to get this point out of the way upfront for those who frown upon this.

Without this, the app would still exist, but again this thing is tied to my internal engines, its different and I encourage you to give it a shot.

What it does

Most of the apps have you paste your list (BCP, NewRecruit, BattleScribe, or GW app format for now is the only thing fully supported) and Wardrill gives you four tools (and sub tools) built around that list you play, and many cases, your opponent's list. I have been told by some testers that it can be hard to understand what each tool does... well I did make some changes such as having a "tutorial" pop up for new users, and humanized some of the sub wording on the program buttons, but in general, this app has a "mechanicus" theme to it throughout that I am not yet willing to part with. So here are the programs.

(the below is in the order of the  programs from top to bottom)

Requisition Drill

The main goal of this app... it quizzes you on the stats, weapon profiles, abilities, stratagems, and total dice math for your specific units. It auto-generates calculation questions that pertain to your list so you can drill the real numbers instead of memorizing datasheets cold. Profile Drill mode tests just stat lines, Game Day mode focuses on calculations and stratagems for tournament prep. There is a "Cogitator' mode, that is hard mode, and I would love feedback on it. It basically gives you some info and you need to calculate in your head what damage you would deal to a target unit, not sure if THAT is for me, but maybe someone out there would like that.

Judicator Protocol

This is a tool where you can ask rules questions, and it will be bound to only answer if it can cite the game rules to you. We have tested it with a large set of difficult questions and it has been hard to beat. Not saying it is perfect, so this is def. NOT a replacement to your TO, but it may be a tool that you can ask it the question before you call your TO over.

You can also ask it competitive questions about your unit load outs, etc. I decided to connect it with the same rules as the rules itself, to my KB system, and therefore it can also give you advice on those things.

Evaluator / Heatmap

For me this is the coolest part of the app and can see myself using it all the time.

Basically, you get yours and your opponent lists in this and you have both a manual and heatmap based calculator (there are 3 flavors of this program really) that allows you simulate combat from them to you or from you to them. The manual mode has access to strategems, while the heatmap generally does not, but you can simulate them with a attacker/defender quick pick bars that I placed throughout these calculators to cover the bases.

The heatmap specifically focuses on best case scenarios for everything else though, and there is an analyzer (LLM) based tool in beta, you can access on the "Both" mode that will get you a report on all the data on that screen, which is basically, every single unit to unit activation between your two armies, plus pt efficiencies, etc. Is this a UnitCrunch replacement? No. I respect the hell out of those guys and am a supporter of theirs. What my goal was here, is to give information, quickly, to you at the table. Nothing in this app is 100 percent going to tell you exactly what will happen, damage wise, but it shouldn't ever be like that even if it could be. It is information to help you make better game decisions.

There is a lot to this program I could go into, but to keep this post shorter (it will be long, I know) I suggest you give it a try and ofc, report any issues you find (please!)

Tactica Strategem

This is a big LLM program here that will take your list and give you a report. The report pulls directly off my knowledge base. I ask you give it a shot and judge it for yourself. Reports are exportable in PDF format, so when you do one, make sure you save it. If you forget, they will store on your profile in the app, but you need membership (adept) to unlock storage features such as this.

TO Tools

There is a program that I made for TOs, and it will be locked out for everyone unless you are a TO, right now the only tool there allows you to quickly validate your event lists on BCP. Follow the instructions to reach out to me to get access to this.

Manufactorum (beta)

I am currently working on an in app list builder. We already have so many of these, but this is a natural progression for my app since I have so much work on parsing lists and saving lists on this app. It is still heavily being worked on, but will be out eventually. Beta features unlock by a support levels for the biggest supporters that want to be apart of this and help grow the app.

About monetization

There's a free tier plus three paid supporter tiers that grant monthly Cogitator Tokens, which get spent on the LLM-driven features (Tactica, Judicator, other analyze features). Free tier gets enough tokens to try the paid features, and repeat per month. I will offer this as long as I can, as I will be eating the cost, I am hoping some people will enjoy the app enough to become members, and will offset this so I can keep that going for those who may not be able to afford to be one, but I still want to be able to enjoy the entire app regardless.

The non-LLM stuff (Drill, Evaluator, and later Manufactorum) is free-tier accessible. The fees cover ongoing development plus API and hosting costs. None of the GW data is something I'm charging for, and Wardrill is not affiliated with or endorsed by Games Workshop, obviously. This is a fan made tool to help us out and I wanted to keep as much as possible free here. If you want to help me out, becoming a member will obviously help me keep growing this app and paying for the API costs that users will use with their tokens.

Army List system

I just want to again to mention that the app uses GW app exports and New Recruit exports (the GW mode one). If you use another export tool, it may fail or give errors. I have put a lot tools into this app that I can use if you hit an issue and choose to report it, so I can be immediately responsive to any crashes or bugs you may face.

Your lists SAVE when you name them, and you can store so many lists per your tier (free gets 3 I believe). Each list makes you assign leaders to units, and it will pass that screen every time, but it remembers your last picks so you don't need to redo them every single time you use them. Ironically, 11ed looks like it will be doing something similar when they do their new app for that. This is important to understand leader and enhancement combinations with units.

There is a BCP option, but I will go into that in a second on limitations, but you can login to BCP, pull your list, your opponents list, etc, directly from your event, or even past events to save you from having to ask your opponent for their list or look for it yourself, copy and paste, etc.

Known limitations going in

  • This is still a beta phase, so please be kind and report issues whenever you hit them. Please also remember as of now, I am the only developer on this project.
  • BCP companion (live list import) only works in desktop Chrome. It's a Chrome extension, so it won't run on mobile browsers. On phones you can still paste your list manually from BCP's web interface. Link to extension: https://tinyurl.com/4zhj94kb
    • This feature works fully on android app, so when it releases, you will have this technology to use BCP with all your stuff on this app.
  • No iOS app yet. The web app works on iPhone Safari, but Chrome extensions don't, so the BCP-import flow has no path on iOS. Drill, Tactica, and Evaluator all work in iOS Safari fine.
  • Android is in closed testing. The native Android build exists but it's still in closed testing on Play Console while the publisher transfer to my LLC settles. For now, Android users go through the mobile web at wardrill.app, which works.
    • If you want to help me with the android app, feel free to send an email to admin@wardrill.app and I can get you in the internal testing step.
  • Solo dev caveat. I haven't tested on every device and browser combination out there. If your phone has a weird screen size or your browser does something unexpected, please use the in-app bug report. It captures device info and I usually see and triage within a day.
  • There is a known issue that Tactica reports may not save on a reload of the website, this will be fixed this evening. Be sure to SAVE your Tactica/Analyzer reports (PDF) when you get them.

This is genuinely a soft launch and a beta. I'm sharing here because I think it's useful and I want real tournament players hammering on it before I push it wider. If you try it and find something useful or something broken, let me know either way. I have a discord (its in the about section of the app) and obviously a link to support me (not linking here, R7, it is also on the app) and really hope this helps even just one person out there, like me. This was made with love for the game, the community, and for those who need the extra tools at their disposal to get their game going further.

Finally, a mention of 11th edition...

11the Edition is around the corner, and I am fully aware that it will make a lot of this old news, but I ready for the challenge and will be working nonstop on the release to make a 11th edition build for Wardrill. I am already preparing for some of this as we speak as new data is released.

If you read this far, thank you. Please reach out to admin@wardrill.app if you have any questions or feedback, please join my discord as well, as you can do the same there.

Cheers and enjoy!
