Crack in wood- making a handle.

This is for a boys axe 28 inch. mainly to be used when camping.

The wood is ash. The crack revealed itself when I shaved down to the blank. Goes from mid shaft to near the toe. I can't tell how deep it goes but there'll probably be some of it in the end product.

Is this a deal breaker or will this handle last for a while? Anything I can do to minimize it's impact on fucntion? It's a really tiny crack but can I fill it with glue or something? Or wrapping the end handle in something might help?

I am happy to replace the handle but I kinda need it for an upcoming trip!

Appreciate any help, thanks yall

Canisbay backcountry west end campsite with "beach"?

In a thread a few years ago someone said a ranger told them one of the backcountry campsites on the west end of the canisbay was "the best", with almost like a small beach by the campsite.

Can someone please tell me which one it might be?! Or any other recommendations for one of the backcountry Canisbay sites?

Thank you!!

Drawknife is extremely hard to work with- sharpen? Edge creep? Technique?

Trying to make an ash handle for an axe but it takes me like 5 minutes to remove 0.5 cm of material. It's excruciating. I can't imagine finishing the rest of the handle this way. I haven't even been able to make the proper blank yet and I hate every second of it. Its sharpened, and I thought it would move fairly smoothly like my spokeshave, which takes great shavings.

My question is whether this is normal. I have sharpened the drawknife. I bought it used. I think some parts of it have some edge bevel creep where it's too steep (think 40 degrees or so), and I'm planning on fixing it.

But does anyone have any advice or tips to make the whole process faster/ to help sharpen the drawknife better?

I've already looked at the many holy grail YouTube videos of drawknife sharpening, I'm just trying to understand what the contributing factors are!

Thanks for the help in advance yall!

Bobbin not winding Singer 9113

I've been trying to figure this problem out for weeks now. If I push down the little cone on top of the bobbin it winds. As it is in the video, the bobbin does not spin.

If the bobbin is full it stitches properly. that's not an issue.

Please help me troubleshoot!!! Thank you!!

Cig Kofte Recipe- please help me with ingredients!

Hi there, I'm looking for a good recipe for cig kofte. There's a lot of variations online, so I was hoping someone can help me!

For reference I live in Canada. There is a local Turkish grocery store that has most of the ingredients (but any brand recommendations would be helpful!)

Here are my questions:

  1. Is this recipe any good?

https://vidarbergum.com/recipe/cig-kofte-turkish-spicy-bulgur-balls/

  1. What type of bulger do I need? AFAIK it should be fine but there are some options at the local grocery store: Bulgar coftelik brown / BULGUR JARISH (ICLI KOFTELIK) / medium/ Bulgar koftelik kisirlik

  2. Does brand matter for the hot pepper paste or pomegranate molasses?

  3. Recipe calls for 20g Turkish sweet red pepper paste (tatlı biber salçası), 2 tsp isot biber (Urfa pepper), 2 tsp pul biber (Aleppo pepper), are all these different peppers needed or can I substitute with any peppers?

Would appreciate any help! Thank you!

Syrian Cig Kofte Recipe?

Hello! I found a local Syrian shop that was selling Cig Kofte wrapped in saj bread. It was really good, and I'm trying to make it at home.

I'm wondering if anyone can share a recipe? All I've found online are Turkish recipes; it the same or is it made differently in Syria?

If someone could also share a saj bread recipe that would be great too!

Thank you!

Canisbay backcountry recommendations!

Any recommendations for the backcountry campsites at Canisbay? Going in mid-summer and hoping for a quiet spot even though it's pretty close to highway 60! The east campsites look like they will have a lot of sun- just based on the map.
