I had up to 30 fry at one point and know half of them are dead

* now

They are in a container pond with lots of plants. At one point I had about up to 30 medaka fry hatched. Now I count around 15 maybe two weeks later. No adult medaka because I wanted to hatch them all at the same time in a pond. Is this the normal survival rate? I live in the SF bay area so morning temps can get a bit cold around 57F. But I notice the temps are usually consistent at around 65F. I wonder if I should have kept a heater in the pond. No nymphs that I can see but a lot tiny snails. I fed it once a day, but I figured the fry would be able to find food on their own. What do you think?

New butcher shop in downtown San Mateo.

I've noticed a lot of good steak deals in San Mateo. I just came back from the Meat House, (across from the old Draegers) and they were selling A5 level Wagyu for $59/lb. That might be the cheapest I've seen in the bay area.

Also has anyone tried The Meat Wagon, the truck that you see an El Camino Real and can vouch for the quality? Their menu has a prime ribeye for $26/lb which is $6 less than Whole Foods.

Anyone subscribe to GQ for digital online access? Do you get to read back issues?

I would like to read the magazine and see the fashion editorials from previous issues as far back as 2010. If anyone have a subscription, how far back can you read previous issues?

Disputing a parking garage charge? Garage was full

It took me 11 minutes to go in and get out of Golden Gateway Garage near Chinatown without finding a spot. It's an SFMTA run garage. Anyone have experience to dispute the charge? Services weren't rendered, no sign saying the garage was full, but I couldn't get out of the gate without paying up.

Just started a 8 gallon container pond on my balcony. Can I just drop in Medaka eggs?

I started a container pond today. I live in the bay area so mild days and sometimes cold evenings. About 7 different plants and substrate and gravel and dechlorinated water. Do you think medaka eggs I eventually buy can just be dropped into the pond? I have no animals right now that would eat it.

I can start it indoors, but I'd rather just set it and forget it. Since my pond is small, I don't mind most of the eggs dying as long as I get a 1/3 of it to survive. What do you think? Is it a reasonable risk, or just do the work and hatch them indoors?

David Oliver from A Year in the Life (1987)

I wasn't aware of him at the time, but I discovered old episodes of "A Year in the Life" posted on Youtube. What an 80s dreamboat. He played Sarah Jessica Parker's conservative husband and youngest son of an upper middle-class family.

Is Safeway getting cheaper?

I made a post previously about how the prices surpassed Whole Foods nowadays. But I've notice the location on De Anza had a "re-Grand Opening" where the prices were actually reasonable, due to so many items on sale and on membership. This may be just the promotion of the Grand Opening. Have you noticed any price changes at your location?

I'm so excited for UCLA students. The present that is the D line keeps on giving into the next year.

Century City in early 2027. UCLA by late 2027. Once it gets to UCLA, we're gonna see another significant huge spike of ridership skewing young people. Exciting rail times.
But next up, the spotlight is on the People Mover.

Anyone with experience with this rose? I have a Queen of Sweden that seems trapped in time. I've had it for a few months, but it neither grows or buds. It looks perfectly healthy with dark green spotless leaves but it seems to not really do anything. The soil is the same soil mixture I use for my other roses (Windermere/Earth Angel) which a blooming well right now.
