CoC bingo: hater edition

i got kinda lazy to rewatch the entire season (i didn't watch the season when it aired either, and this time, only finished about 60% of it), and am well aware that not every character is discussed. however, that is simply the consequence of having such a lackluster cast in general.

apologies if these ones aren't as in-depth as the DCAS ones, but i simply just don't have as much to say.

robbed of a dynamic between them tbh

hear me out…

these 2 characters have a lot in similar, such as how they push people close to them away from them out of fear, work jobs that mentally drain them despite their enjoyment, how they constantly face failure, suffered from loneliness, or struggling to choose between their job and their partner. the fact that these two are so similar yet have barely interacted is absolutely baffling to me.

their similarities make them feel like they naturally gravitate towards each other, and it would let us as an audience understand their emotions and perspectives from their own POV, rather than being only seen from the perspective of their partner.

tom and riya’s own insecurities and failures being portrayed in a non-romantic way would be a much more realistic and deeper approach to their characters rather than resorting them to their “love triangles” that demonized them in favor of their love interests. their dynamic would create a way for both of them to express their issues without being demonized, and it’d be a nice hero/villain dynamic which DCAS really lacked, considering alec/connor was the only really notable one, which ended up being dragged down by the love triangle anyway.

furthermore, the two of these can be connected to other characters like aiden and alec, which shows that this dynamic can exist outside of these two and isn’t just self-contained. overall, these characters feel like they parallel each other very well, and we were definitely robbed of the potential this duo had.

am i biased? maybe. did i enjoy that greeting of them? yeah, i need it injected into my veins. blowing my birthday candles out today in hopes of them getting a proper dynamic 🙏
