How to aim the mirrors in Archimedes Death Ray

I'm a fan of the show but this is my first time posting here.

I just watched Adam's latest (I think) video and he mentioned how hard they found it to aim the reflection of the sun with a mirror.

I've always wanted to tell him that there is a way to aim the reflection where you want without seeing the reflection, itself at all. You can even use a mirror to signal an airplane in the sky where there is no possible way you can see the reflection. I learned this trick in Boy Scouts over 50 years ago. Here's how it works.

We were issued a flat piece of stainless steel about the size of a playing card, polished to a mirror finish on both sides and a hole in the middle big enough to see your target.

Hold it up and look at your target through the hole. You may need to close one eye.

Look at the reflection of your shadow on the ground in the mirror facing you and turn the mirror until the reflection you see lines up with the shadow of the mirror on the ground.

If you can see your target through the hole and at the same time the reflection of the shadow lines up with the shadow of the mirror on the ground the sun's reflection will be on the target.

It takes a few minutes of practice to get the hang of it.

What they could have done is put holes in the main mirror and a smaller mirror mounted flat to the backside. The mirror on the backside only has to be big enough to see the reflection of the shadow on the ground.

What do you think?

Looking to possibly buy a 2006 Prius.

I'm looking for an economical car in both the purchase price and operation.

I found a 2006 Prius that looks to be in very good condition for $3500.

I know about cars but not these. Do you have any tips about what I should watch out for?

I'm most concerned about the condition of the battery. Is there an easy way to tell if it is going to need to be replaced soon?

Is there any other advice you can give me on what to look out for?

Thanks.

My modest entry ticket to the club.

It was time (pun intended) for a new daily driver watch so I made a list of what I wanted and didn't need in a watch.

My eyes are getting older so it needed to be easy to read.

Chronograph. Again, I find the analog sub dials easier to see than a digital window.

I added the bubble over the date window.

Indigo cannot be beat.

Are we sensing a theme yet?

I wanted to shower, so sailing and swimming with it (no diving or even snorkeling) so it needed to be somewhat water resistant (30 meters). It would need a metal band for that and I prefer a metal band anyway.

I did the not need an alarm.

Not too expensive. I got it from eBay for $60 plus $15 for the bubble and band.

How do I find something that I want to bid on?

I asked this question once before and the response was "we don't know what you are interested in".

I'm interested in a lot of things.

I go to Goodwill stores at least a couple times a week and when I do go I am almost never looking for something in particular. I just go in and see what they've got that day. That system works well for me.

When I go on the website I might do a search for something that comes into my head but I can't think of everything they might have.

I would like to just browse and see what they have. If there is a way to do that I haven't found it. Show me pictures and I can swipe left or right like a dating app.

I would prefer to lean more towards bigger ticket items because the shipping and handling makes cheaper items not worth the trouble.

How do I remove the steering wheel on an 80 MGB?

My turn signals only occasionally self cancel so I thought I would take off the steering wheel and see if I could tell what was going on.

I have a steering wheel puller but as you probably know there are no tapped holes to pull from.

I loosened the nut and pulled on the wheel but that did nothing.

I tried tapping on the shaft with a brass headed hammer but no soap. I didn't hit it very hard because I didn't want to mess up the threads on the shaft.

I obviously won't be able to heat it much without melting the plastic.

Is there a technique or procedure? Hit it harder with the brass hammer?

Thanks.

What are these and how do you use them?

I am a novice to Spirograph.

I bought a small Spirograph kit at a garage sale and two of these were included.

I can't understand what they do or how to use them. I'm sure they are a Spirograph part because there are places in the tray where they fit.

I have a 1980 MGB with regular steel, not wire wheels.

My trim rings, or what are sometimes called beauty rings are rusty and the chrome is peeling.

I found a stainless steel set on Amazon that says they will fit any 14 inch steel wheels. Is this true? Are they likely to fit or do I need a particular type of trim ring?

Is there anything else that I need to know?

Thanks.

Edit: also I was wondering if MGBs ever used a compact donut spare. I know a lot of people don't like them but I would like to have the extra trunk space.
