Charging DIY 24V LiFePO4 at home, disassembling it and moving it to a van — safe idea or bad plan?

Hi all,

I’m building a 24V (8S) 280Ah LiFePO4 battery with a JK BMS. Because I live in an apartment, I’m planning to charge it at home, then physically move it to my van for use for the conversion process(mainly power tools). However it's too heavy to move it down the stair unless it's disassembled into smaller pieces and then reassembled in the van as an 8S system.

I understand the main risk is accidental short circuits during handling, so I plan to use terminal caps or tape.

Is disassembling, moving and reassembling a charged DIY pack like this actually considered safe practice, or is it a bad idea?

Locked out of my Sprinter — key won’t go into door and fob is acting up

I’ve got a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter and I’ve run into a strange issue. The van has been sitting for a couple of months and now I can’t unlock it.

The key fob doesn’t seem to work properly anymore. When I press the buttons a faint red light shows, so I’m guessing the battery might be low. I tried using the physical metal blade key from inside the fob, but it won’t go into the driver door lock at all. It feels like it hits a stop immediately rather than sliding in.

I also noticed the fob itself doesn’t have a Mercedes logo on it, so I’m starting to wonder if it might be an aftermarket key or if the blade isn’t actually cut correctly for the van.

At this point I’m locked out completely and not sure if I’m dealing with a dead fob battery, a seized lock, or just the wrong key. Has anyone come across this before or know what the most likely cause is?

Does Nicorette gum, spray or lozenges give a better fix than Zyn pouches?

I've had success with Zyn pouches but the effect is very short lived and it tastes awful.

I've never tried nicotine gum, lozenges or sprays and I'm wondering do they give a more elongated buzz? The longer yet less intense stimulation is attractive to me as it will stop me wanting a cigarette for the entirety of the day.

Best value soya chunks in Ireland?

So I started eating soya chunks from Holland and Barrett for the last few months and I've been quite happy with using them as a meat replacement. Their dry weight works out to about 6.20 Euros per kg which I think is a good deal considering the average per kg of chicken is about 8 Euros.

However H and B have run out of stock and I'm wondering can I get recommendations for an alternative way to buy this stuff? Perhaps better value alternative that tastes good. Thanks

Would supplementing my 15mg Lexapro dosage with a low St John's Wort dosage be beneficial?

I've had success with lexapro since being prescribed it 2 years ago. I definitely get more enjoyment from things.

I'm wondering would supplementing the dosage with a modest intake of St John's Wort be worthwhile or would it be inadvisable?

Anyone using cam lock + dowel joinery for van cabinets?

I’m converting a Sprinter and considering using a cam lock/dowel jig with birch plywood for the cabinets instead of glued joints. I like the idea of being able to disassemble or modify the cabinets later if needed.

My main concern is vibration and chassis flex over time. Are cam lock style joints durable enough for van life if the cabinets are securely mounted to the van itself?

Curious if anyone here has tried this approach and how it held up.

Did I make my rivnut hole too large for M8 stainless rivnuts?

I’m installing roof rails on my Mercedes Sprinter using M8 304 stainless rivnuts in the factory roof rail holes. The rivnut body OD is about 10.7mm. I only have a 10mm and 12mm step bit. The 10mm hole is too small but I’m worried 12mm might be too loose and cause spinning.

Is it acceptable to carefully enlarge the 10mm hole slightly, or should I buy an 11mm bit first?
