Tell me it gets better

My almost 8 years old Field spaniel had her first seizure 3.5 weeks ago. No prior symptoms just straight into a 1.5 generalized seizure. She was brought in to the vet but had no other seizures so she was sent home for observation.

On Friday, she has 4 generalized seizures in 8 hours, all of similar length. We went into the ER and she stabilized on pheno. She had no seizures at the vet and has had none since coming home. We were warned of the side effects, but this is rough. She is currently on pheno and gaba.

My once confident, chill dog is an anxiety monster. We tried to go out this morning and our nice, patient neighbor texted us that she was screaming non-stop. In the house, she wants me and my husband in her sights. If we split rooms, she will hop between us, staring and whining unless we pet her. She will lay at the foot of the bed and calm down eventually.

I know we are early into this and it takes time, but at least tell me it gets better. Still have to figure out how we are going to travel now with her meds and new needs. We do not have a household that can accommodate having someone home 24/7. I love my girl, but frankly unsure of how feasible this is long term.

Thoughts on School List for a NonTrad, mid-tier Applicant

I would love some thoughts on schools to my schools list. Open to suggestions for other schools. I am going to use some Army terms here, but I promise my application was scrubbed of military terms and put into easy to understand language.

- MCAT: 515 (127/128/128/132)

- GPA Science and Total: ~ 3.5. My first freshman semester I had a whooping 0.16 GPA. This is from 17 years ago. Every semester after that is all A with 2 Bs. Post Bac of 50 credits and counting with a 4.0. The post Bac includes some of the required courses like bio chem, physics, Orgo, and are current.

- Active duty military Radiology tech. Registered in RT and CT.

- Clinical Hours: 10k plus between experiences in a Field hospital, working as a CT tech, being a radiology instructor, and being a department supervisor.

- Volunteering: All non medical. 179 hours with a family readiness group and started working as a wildlife operator and should have about 50+ hours by the time secondaries start trickling in.

- Research: 0 on my application but I just got word a case report was selected for poster presentation at a conference and applied to be part of a research opportunity that I should hear back from the end of June.

- Extra curriculars: I train dogs and compete in dog sports. Something I have done for the last decade. It is a big part of my life and one of my experiences.

- Leadership: I have worked as department supervisor and led the ancillary service section (radiology/lab/dental/ PT) of our field hospital. Lots of stories to draw from working with people from all sorts of places with

State ties:

My home of record is Alaska, so I am apart of WAMI

Colorado: Spent 6 years (up until last year). Almost all my medical experiences are in Colorado.

Michigan: I was a military brat, but my dad is from Michigan and I spent every summer with my grandparents. It is the closest thing I have to a home town and somewhere near and dear to me and my goal place to practice after the Army.

South Dakota: My parents have lived in South Dakota for amost a decade now.

North Carolina: Spent 10 years there.Havent been back since but I could speak to it if need be

California: My husband is a native of Nor Cal and his whole family lives there. Another place I visit often and can speak to.

DO schools:

Michigan

PCOM

New England

Rowan

Help Saving Dahlia

It is a Mystic Illusion Dahlia hybrid. I have had it for close to a month now and it was doing well until the last two days.

The instructions say full sun and it is heat and drought tolerant. It has been getting 8+ hours of sun and watered every other day. It has been almost 90 degrees the last two days.

Anything I can do?

Non-trad with one semester lowering my GPA

34 y/o non-trad. Overall science and total GPA is a 3.54. The big dip belongs to a single semester from 17 years ago where I rocked a semester with 3 F's and 2 D's. How big of an impact will it have on my application?

I do account for it in my personal statement (moral of the story: graduating a year early might mean a 17 year old is intelligent, but says nothing to their maturity). Everything after that are As and 2 Bs. In the last year, I retook physics, Gen Chem, biochem, stats, genetics, and Orgo with a 4.0.

Other stats:

515 MCAT (127/128/128/132)

- 10 years (20k clinical hours) as an Army CT/radiology tech (still active duty) with experience in everything from a field hospital to department supervisor. Direct care with military and civilian patients

- 200 hours non clinical volunteering and rising

-1 potential first author publication (won't know until June). No other research currently

I am applying broadly. USU is on my list and I know my GPA won't be an issue. So far, I have based my school list on schools with broader GPA ranges, military friendly, and states I have strong personal ties to.

4/24 Tester: Non-tradational student still finishing prereqs. You can do it!

I am a 34 non-traditional student (been an X-ray/CT tech in the Army for almost a decade), took a 16 credit semester for the spring semester while studying for the MCAT, and ended up with a bad back injury the required surgery two weeks after my exam.

Not the most glamorous score to be posted today, but I am over the moon. Test day felt like CP and BB wrecked me. The biggest surprise in my score was CARS as I am usually a 130 plus. My FL 5 and 6 sections averaged were almost spot on for my scores.

If I can do it, so can you. Next stop med school.

Accessing Military Email?

I lost my health.mil account when I left my hospital and went to an Army schools program. I was given a usuhs.edu account for work purposes, but none of my actual military specific communication is going to that email (ex:HRC info and I am eligible for the E7 board here soon). I am at USU but I am enlisted. Also looking to see if any of my old info was saved, though I imagine not.

I have no access to NIPR. I tried to set up AVD on my home computer but every time I give it what should be my Army email, it says no account exists.

Not quite sure what to do at this point. My CAC info shows I have a military email but I can't access it. I asked around but no one seems to know of a solution.

My husband has been caring for me and when I thanked him, he said...

"You're welcome, but everything I have done is just basic shit anyone should do for their partner."

I had a back surgery yesterday. 6 days before surgery I had an episode so bad, I couldn't stand, sit, or walk without support. When I could stand, I could not bend or twist at all. This man helped me move, bathed me, clothed me, fed me delicious home cooked meals, took care of the house and dogs, and managed my meds after an ER visit with no push from me. Post surgery, he keeps the house operating seamlessly, makes sure my meds are taken on time, I am comfortable, fed and entertained...and he does it all while playing video games in his down time.

Over the last decade I have had 5 surgeries, a couple that left me heavily reliant on another person. My very first surgery we had been dating for 6 months and for two weeks, I was unable to bear weight on one leg or drive. The man helped take care of my dogs, cooked delicious meals, cleaned, prepped my meds, got me to appointments, and helped me go to the bathroom, shower and dress.

And every time I have thanked him, he reminds me that this is what a partner does and that he loves me.

Ladies, don't settle for less. I was married before to someone else and stuck around for years hoping he would finally choose to be my partner instead of waiting around for me to tell him what to do. Leaving was scary, but it was the best thing I ever did. We have been married for almost a decade and he has always been there when I was sick, injured, or recovering. The video games aren't the problem. A lack of knowledge isn't the problem. They didn't "forget" and they shouldn't need a list when it comes to basic partner decency.

Woman cut and color. I am not looking for anything complicated. Generally a darker all over color, bangs, and a trim for medium/short hair for a wanna be scene kid who never grew up . Prefer someone who is comfortable with a razor or thinning sheers.
