So I’ve started reading as I want a new hobby and I used to love reading as a kid. I recently started but my brain has been fixating on like little black horizontal bars between the lines that I’m currently reading. I read on a kindle basic as it’s easier and more comfortable for my eyes than a book, and I’ve tried all spacing settings, dark mode, font sizes, margins etc. I don’t know how much better it would be if I got the paper white to have a warm touch to the screen.

Are there any tips people have, or will I ever get used to it eventually? I notice it even when reading this post on my phone but it’s more of a bother when trying to immerse myself in a book.

Hi, new kindle user here. I’m starting to look at changing to a Kobo Clara Colour as there’s a lot of things I like more than the Kindle Basic such as cheaper book prices, waterproofing etc. My only concern is I’ve seen a few people complain about how their Kobo creaks, pops, makes sounds with a bit of tension or hand movement.

I have sensitivity to those kind of sounds, stupidly, and it has put me off various handheld devices, but the Kindle has been really sturdy and not made a single sound so it’s been a great experience on that front.

TLDR: does anyone’s kobos make any sounds due to the plastic casing at all? thanks for answering my silly question!

I’ve been struggling with the typical symptoms of VSS for years, even more so since I started reading and I’m noticing the static overlay of my vision more, as well as the afterimages of text. I’ve been wanting to speak to someone about maybe medication that could help settle it so I can maybe try to enjoy but the problem is, none of them even know what it is.

My GP said she never heard of it and had to look it up, and she referred me to neurology. The neurologist didn’t know what it was and had to look it up on Google right in front of me, saying it didn’t sound real. I had an MRI that came back clear so I got discharged to ophthalmology. They have never heard of it either and said my eyes look fine so they’ve discharged me. I went back to my GP and she said because they both say nothings wrong, she can’t prescribe me anything in relation to it.

I’ve tried asking for a referral to neuro-ophthalmology but she said that without either of the other 2 departments agreeing there’s something wrong, there’s nothing else that can be done.

I know medications can’t fix it or even help it guaranteed, but I was just trying to seek some reassurance about it all you know? I know I’ll get used to it in regards to reading, but it feels rubbish that no one believes me.

I don’t mind where you’re from, though I can only speak English! I can play on any region servers, I’d just like someone to play with on anything, without taking things TOO seriously.

I’ve been having some concerns with my temps on my Legion 5 RTX 3060M Ryzen 7 5800H. I’ve done some rough benchmarking and provided all the temps below for a few of my main games.

I’m inexperienced with thermal pasting and paying someone to do it for me professionally costs a bit so I’d like to try and avoid needing paste as much as I can.

TL:DR are these cpu temps a concern? or are these normal?

Overwatch 2
79 - 87c : Stays mostly at around 81c : 60fps high

Outlast Trials
84 - 95c : Stays mostly at around 90c : 60fps Ultra

Dead by Daylight
75 - 94c : Stays mostly at around 77c : 60fps Low

Escape from Tarkov
80 - 95c : Stays mostly at around 86c : 50fps low

S&Box
80 - 101c: Stays mostly at around 90c : 60fps low

So context, I have a Legion 5 RTX 3060 Laptop. It’s about 4 years old now and it’s been going strong for all games. I’ve recently been playing the new s&box game and been addicted to playing a lot of the modes on there.

Unfortunately a lot of my favourite modes reach around 84-86 (occasionally dipping into 87). The frames are the same as usual and I don’t see any degrading in performance but I need this laptop to last as long as possible, even just an extra 3-6 months.

Tldr: is it safe for me to continue playing this game at these temps for like 1-3 hours a day? thanks :-)

Edit: Laptop is sat on a flat laptop cooling pad (which is turned off as it doesn’t help) which is grilled and has multiple holes for airway.
