BJJ guy starting judo tomorrow, what should I know?

After 8 years of BJJ, I’m heading to my first ever judo class tomorrow.

I’m going into it with a pretty simple goal, I love grappling, and I want to broaden my skill set. I’m fully expecting to get absolutely humbled and I’m honestly looking forward to it.

For anyone who has made the BJJ → judo transition, what are the biggest things you’d recommend for a complete beginner?

Especially interested in things you wish someone had told you before your first class, or BJJ habits that might get me into trouble in judo.

Thanks in advance, excited to start learning.

Any idea how to undo bad muscle memory?

I’ve been playing Valorant for a few years, and before that I played CS (since 1.3). I’ve never been good, or even cared much about improving. I mostly enjoyed the social aspect of it, and my rank has pretty much always been Bronze 1 or 2.

Recently, though, I’ve been trying to get better. Over the past 2–3 months, I’ve been learning about everything I need to improve, and I feel like I’ve ended up in a really weird place. I’ve reached a point where, every time I die, I know exactly what I did wrong, but most of the time I still can’t stop myself from making the same silly mistakes.

The only time I consistently play better is when I’m solo queueing with no Discord and no friends. It feels like I have to use 100% of my brain, and the second I stop being completely locked in, a lifetime of bad habits takes over.

So my question is: is this changeable? Can I really undo ~25 years of swinging wide and crouch spraying?
