The city cut down my tree outfront and left us with a stump. I was going to build a fairy garden but decided to do something a bit different and on brand with what we love. Welcome to Shawzy’s Cat Village, Queens NY.

One of the very first songs Jarvis and I ever wrote together as SHAWTIME DUO came from a completely random phrase he said years ago: “I wish I was a fish, but I’m just a bird.” We took it from there and somehow ended up with this little song about fish, birds, freedom, and wanting someone by your side.

It’s simple, a little silly, and maybe a little deeper than it seems. Are the fish and bird friends? Are they in love? Is it about wanting to be something you’re not, or just wanting to be free with someone you love? We never really decided. Maybe that’s what we like about it. 🐟🐦❤️

“After Hours” by The Velvet Underground has always spoken to me. I’ve always pictured a shy, introverted girl just wishing for some happiness and love. There’s something so innocent and bittersweet about that feeling. ❤️
