I built an open-source, privacy-first PDF editor that runs entirely in your browser. I'd love some feedback.

Edit1: Just wanted to put it out, I used help from claude code and Google antigravity to build this. I guess I should have pointed it out clearly. My bad.

I've been working on Slate, an open-source PDF editor that runs entirely in the browser. The goal is to provide a clean, privacy-first alternative to online PDF editors.

This comes from something I have been looking to use.

No uploads, no accounts, and no ads. Everything stays on your device.

It's still an early work in progress, but the core features are functional:

  • Edit PDF text
  • OCR for scanned PDFs
  • Merge PDFs
  • Reorder, rotate and delete pages
  • Add images to PDFs

(One feature I picked from one of the fellow redditors @gounisalex)

Their GitHub Repo : https://github.com/AlexandrosGounis/pdfx

I'd really appreciate feedback from you all.. I'm especially interested in thoughts on the UX, performance, bugs, and what features you'd expect from a tool like this.

I'd appreciate any honest feedback or criticism. I'm trying to make this something people would actually prefer using.
