Worried about my renewal - what to expect?
My GE expires in May 2027 and I just submitted my renewal today. Since May 2021, I’ve been to 26 countries, including Cuba, Lebanon, and a brief day trip tour into Syria. I'm always flagged for secondary inspection every time I enter the states again.
I actually just flew home from Egypt yesterday and went through secondary again. The CBP officer mostly questioned me about the logistics of the Syria trip last year. I was completely honest, explained it was an organized guided tour to see historic sites, and he checked my bags and let me go. He was very nice about it.
Since I'm transparently listing all 26 countries on my renewal form, I know it will probably trigger a manual review. Has anyone else renewed with high scrutiny countries on their record? Did you have to do an in person interview and redo fingerprints, or were you able to do a remote video interview? I'd love to know what the questioning is like during the actual renewal process. Thanks!
