Note that I’m venting in the venting sub. If you have an issue with my personal life experience, feel free to make some snarky gotcha comment that invalidates everything I say like the Redditor you are.

I do not like work trips because you don’t always get a lot of work done. Sometimes it’s just an excuse for “the team to meet up”, which as far as I can tell means:

1. A bunch of working adults disrupt their lives to go to some podunk shit they’d never visit otherwise.
2. You get a half ass day of “meetings” done that could’ve been handled virtually
3. For some reason, everyone must spend every second of every cocksucking miserable day together

I am an introverted person. If I am talking, it is to impart real information. It is extremely draining to me to have to go put a smiley face on for a bunch of people who are also here to get a paycheck (but better at playing the game than me). It’s exhausting but it’s just a part of who I am.

I have been crammed in a room full of these talkative people since 7:40 this morning. We are now at a music venue. When we leave there we’ll be going to dinner.

13 or 14 fucking hours. Having to keep a smile on my face. Having to act like I’m interested in your personal life even as I don’t tell you a thing about mine. (I know I’m boring and not going to steal your time talking about my shitty life that’s identical to yours in all the ways that count, plus I’ve lived a lot rougher life than a lot of you corpos and I’m not going to tank my rep talking about my experiences to your sheltered asses).

You’ve got to make a paycheck and this is the only thing I’m good at so I guess I’m stuck with it. I entered the workforce to provide value but am going to flame out based on my ability to fucking chit chat with people.

But TV/movie producers have been known to do shit like inducing lemmings to jump off cliffs to get good footage. Is it that far of a stretch that the producers of the biggest paranormal-themed mystery show on TV at the time might keep a couple morally dubious pyromaniac sorts on staff, just in case?
