Lanterns Episode 1

So after all the build up and reviews....this could have been any old superhero nonsense?

I'm shocked at how paint by numbers the first episode was and, don't know why I should be surprised but it's not hiding the ball with the comic book stuff either.

Aside from respect for people involved, I can't say it's an encouraging start.

HBO Max App shadow

Whenever I move my mouse, or pause or do anything else that triggers appearance of time bar along with options, the screen goes into sligthtly darker shade. I find it a bit inconvenient. Is there a way to prevent this as it really impacts the viewing experience.

New 'X-Men' Pic At Marvel Taps Samara Weaving To Play Emma Frost

Hell yeah.

Now let X-Men be horny.

God I hope they let them have their own clean slate and don't mix it in with all the existing baggage.

Spider-Man Written Reviews Thread

Someone referenced how an individual review thread may not be helpful as it seems like it's just showing a biased angle - so how about a thread where people post good writing.

I like posting film review in this sub because I value the writing (whether I agree or not) and think this is a place where people may also value it and enjoy reading reviews...but some may bypass people entirely as the landscape is so fractured.

May try and make this a regular thing for big releases so we can make it easier for people to find review that people enjoy.

England wins under Borthwick in 48 games

Argentina (x6)

Wales (x5)

Italy (x3)

Japan (x2)

Fiji (x2)

Chile (x1)

Samoa (x1)

USA (x1)

Ireland (x1)

Scotland (x1)

New Zealand (x1)

Australia (x1)

France (x1)

Considering England have lost 3 times to Argentina in 30 years, this is a damning record.

And an incredible example of how the scarcity of tough summer tours can do wonders for your job security. Similar to the Jones reign after the first -8 months.

The Apatow Universe was the Original MCU

(interesting discussion on the latest Blank Check episode)

Pretty compelling.

Same actors gradually teaming up into super team movies, even self referential towards the end. But couldn’t evolve and the formula ran out.

Maybe killed their own genre for a while as people got tired of it.

Most overlooked Movie in the Auction draft?

Can't believe they missed the Taylor Swift wedding movie.

35 under 35 stalwart, Belloni's most influential person in Hollywood and director of an upcoming movie that is coming out (right?) at some point and will have very honest hype around it from people like AMC CEO Adam Aaron.

As an aside

"They say there were around one thousand attendees, but surprisingly, it all felt intimate and small. Everything was close.

After some relaxing and mellow romantic songs played to settle the house, a few violins and cello ushered in the wedding party. Headlined by handsome Travis in a white tux, and a jaw-dropping Taylor in a stunning white wedding dress with a long veiled train." - Adam Aaron.

Rose of Nevada

Anybody see it this weekend?

Callum Turner and George McKay very good. Both get written off as being nothing actors, in a weird way cause I think there's too many British actors for Americans to keep up with and when they're in movies it seems to especially annoy people.

1917 innocent.

Turner is actually very good but people haven't seen much of him and assume he's just a tabloid boy.

Made by the director of Bait.

The Tony Kushner Piece

It’s a weird thing to say because Spielberg has such a long history before Kushner.

But in the last 20 years, Spielberg has made 4 movies I really like and they’re all written by the Kush. All the others have ranged from fine to didn’t really work for me.

Feels like I’m not alone in thinking this.

Does modern Spielberg just need a better writer by his side? I’d like to see a Kushner/Spielberg Sci-fi cause it might give the script a bit more bite or edge that some of his recent stuff without him lacks.

In contrast, there’s no much evidence Koepp can write an interesting modern movie.
