Getting followers from IG giveaways in 2026

Not talking about creator accounts, I mean small businesses. For example, let’s say you review and sell board games and give away one of your best games randomly. Sounds like it’d attract people who are actually into board games, right? The only requirements are to follow the account and repost the post, pretty standard giveaway stuff.

But does it really work like that anymore? My guess is you still get a bunch of ppl who just want free stuff. They follow, wait for the winner, then disappear or become lurkers. Doesn’t seem that different from other low quality growth tricks. Also not even sure how IG looks at these giveaways nowadays.

Anyone here run one recently for a business account? Did it bring engaged followers and maybe even customers or was it just a temporary follower bump? Or maybe giveaways are completely forbidden on IG?

Anyone still getting good results from IG giveaways? Are they even allowed anymore?

Am I weird for caring more about WHO follows me than how many?

Been thinking abt this recently. Obviously I get that fake followers, bots, dead accounts, random people outside your niche etc can mess with engagement and probably affect reach too.

But what I’m curious about is how seriously do people actually manage this stuff?

Like do you guys ever go through your follower list and clean things up manually or using tools? Maybe once a month, once a year or is that just a waste of time and better to let Instagram handle periodic bot purges on its own?

Feels like everybody talks about growth, but I rarely hear ppl discussing audience quality maintenance.

Would be interesting to hear opinions from both bigger creators and people just starting out. 🙏

Anyone here optimizing Instagram posts for SEO?

Maybe dumb question, but I keep seeing Instagram posts popping up pretty high in Google results sometimes… and now I’m wondering if I’ve been ignoring free traffic this whole time lol.

Do you guys actually optimize your posts for SEO? And is there any real way to track whether a post is ranking for specific search terms?

Trying to figure out if this is a legit growth play or just internet magic 🫠

Is Threads better than Instagram for organic reach right now?

I’ve been noticing that posts on Threads seem to reach new people much easier than on Instagram lately.

Does it feel like Threads’ algorithm is currently better for discovery? And if you run a local business, how would you take advantage of that right now?

Curious what others think.. 🤓
