Any advice would be greatly appreciated please
Ever since I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, I've been trying to improve my lifestyle by eating healthier, cutting down on carbs, and exercising. I was also prescribed a low dose of metformin, but I don't feel like it's working for me.
I'm 18, turning 19, and I've been thinking about starting a weight loss medication like Ozempic because losing weight has been incredibly difficult. I try to eat more protein, meat, and vegetables while reducing my carbs, and I used to go to the gym regularly. I don't go as often now because I have a physically demanding part-time job, but I still try my best.
One of the hardest parts is dealing with the food cravings. I genuinely try to control them, but sometimes they're overwhelming. Even with all the effort I've put in, I don't feel like I'm making any progress, and it's been really discouraging.
I'm honestly exhausted. I've been bullied for my weight and the way I look, and I'm tired of feeling this way. That's why I'm seriously considering weight loss medication.
I know medications like Ozempic can be expensive, so I've been working during the holidays and have managed to save about $2,000. Right now, I earn around $500 to $630 a month from my part-time job.
I'm an international student in Australia, but I'll be returning to my home country in August. I'm hoping I might be able to see a doctor there, where consultations and prescriptions would likely be much more affordable than they are here. However, that means waiting another four months, and I'm not sure if I should wait that long because I'm really struggling.
Do you think it's realistic for me to afford weight loss medication with my current savings and monthly income? And would it make more sense to wait until I return home to see a doctor, or should I book an appointment here in Australia now?
I'm so tired of being bullied.
