Hi, I was going to post in the askreddit subreddit but for some reason I could not add body text…so I apologize if this is not the appropriate sub for this.

Anyways, my (26M) boyfriend and I (26F) are planning on getting engaged soon, and eventually married. We have been dating for almost 5 years this November, and living together for 3. I love him endlessly, and we both decided a while ago that we are ready to move things past “boyfriend/girlfriend” stage. We’ve had a few emergencies come up and money has been tight lately, so no ring yet but I fully trust that that day will come and I am beyond excited for our life together as a married couple!

The only thing I’m kind of ruminating on is how the name changing will go. Personally, I like my last name. It is unique and it flows well with my first and middle name. It sounds good and it looks good on paper (superficial I know) My bf’s last name works with his name, but it just doesn’t sound right with mine and I am a little iffy about totally dropping my last name 😭 I told him I would hyphenate, but he seemed a little hesitant to agree, laughing it off and asking “What? You gotta take my last name” or something like that, to which I told him that I liked my last name and he said something like “but you’ll be my wife”

I was a little confused. Why does it matter if I hyphenate or not? I will still have his last name attached to mine. We will still have a marriage license all the same. We will still be married and be living happily ever after. Not to mention, to the average Joe and Mary on the street we will be “Mr and Mrs. Hislastname” obviously.

I wouldn’t say that I am particularly “attached” to my last name, but as mentioned before it’s unique and I like how it flows with my name. Maybe I’m just looking at it for the wrong reasons, but I’m not particularly on board with totally dropping my last name. The discussion hasn’t really come up again (we have a lot going on rn) but eventually when we get to that point, I’d like to have this thing wrapped up. I just don’t want him getting a false pretense about it and being blindsided when he discovers that I am actually serious about not dropping my name.

Can someone with a little more experience on this advise? Any insight is appreciated.

I suppose this is more of a rant/vent on my end, but does anyone else feel like they never get to spend enough time actually playing the sims?

I enjoy gameplay more than building, but sometimes I can’t find a build that’s exactly what I need and I’ll end up having to place a build and then edit it to fix missing items (for some reason my filters don’t always show any results when I select for builds to only show items used with packs I already own idk 😭) but it takes foreverrr lmao and then by the time I’m done adjusting the build, it’s been like hours especially if it’s a huge build and then I’m just too burnt out and fried to actually play the game and focus on storyline.

I also really only have the weekends to get quality gameplay time in, but if it’s not something in-game, it’s something irl!! Spend all days doin chores, and then when I finally sit down to relax and game, the window i have has shortened significantly bc i had to do fuckass dishes and laundry and go grocery shopping and suddenly it’s time to make dinner in 2 hours and im just like…can I have ONE uninterrupted, unplanned day to just play the damn game omg…I need lots and lots of time to get immersed and no, spending 5 hours in build/buy mode does not count as playing the game lol. I need more time….

Hi everyone! Long story short I had a therapy appointment yesterday and my therapist asked me if I had ever been diagnosed with anything as she was reading my intake form. I guess some things on there were sounding a bit ADHD-esque…

The thought had crossed my mind a few times, but I’d always just brushed it off because I didn’t want to be “that person” but the fact that I had an outside, unbiased party asking me about a diagnosis is making me question if I really should seek one? I’m just very new to all of this and I don’t want to be in a psychiatrists office wasting their time. I also brought it up to my mother and she basically got really dismissive, said something like “you don’t have that, I would know if you did…”and it kind of made me feel invalidated lmao so I think going forward, she will be left out of the loop. I’m an adult and I think I have the right to explore my mental health, regardless of if I never presented symptoms as a child. Anyways, I digress.

Does anyone have any advice or tips as to how to navigate this situation? How do you know when it is time to see a psychiatrist?

Please help my sim went on a bender last night and she has NO money now and bills are due. I was like cool I’ll just make her a stripper and she can dance and get tips but idk how I can hire her? She already has a full time job. I had a different sim in another household purchase the club, but it only gives me a random selection of sims to pick to be employed at it.

It’s such a struggle for me trying to create male sims that don’t all look the same or have the same qualities/features. I feel like all of mine are recycled versions of each other lmao 🫩

Feel free to share some male sims you’ve made, I need inspiration! Bonus if you include a backstory!
