Beginner DJs, this is for you.

I'm an older dj. I don't know it all. I do know my stuff though for where I focussed - bars, clubs then strictly wedding and private gigs. I was great on the mic and I knew how to generate and ride the wave of energy to make a crowd happy . I've had those shity nights where you just can't do anything right but mostly had a blast doing what I did. All of that to say, that I had a fantastic 20+ year run and raised a family on my income as a DJ.

This vid is a pro level conversation and full of gold standard fundamentals. I don't know anything about the course that they promote but frankly if you focus on what was shared just in this video about working a room, you're a really good chunk of the way there as far as becoming a solid DJ.

Two of the biggest nuggets I'd highlight , know your crate and remember you're there to make people have a good time . The music is the most important thing. Three, the three nuggets I'd highlight. IYKYK

Found a Prime 4 deal. What's first?

Got lucky and found a new in box first gen Prime 4 for about 900 bucks. I'm looking to the veterans here. What are you recommend for the best SATA drive that works for you? It's primarily for home use so I figure a 1tb drive should do the trick but I've never worked with these all-in-one units before. Just looking for some tips out of the gate. Thanks.

Where are my old DJs at?

I got to say I'm loving this sub. I am however wondering where my kindred spirits are cuz I know you're out there. Early '80s started DJing because frankly I saw DJs and said well shit, I can do that. The ensuing 20 plus years, mortgages kids, wondering what my quote unquote career should be, and it was always my main source of income. I worked day gigs as well, moving companies blah blah blah but always was a DJ. Friday Saturday nights didn't exist as anything other than work nights. I loved the bar work. I was the DJ who would do mic work - drink specials, song dedications etc etc. I have to say I found I had a gift for it. Other than having a general topic in mind, I would open the mic and somehow gold would come out. I could hit a post like nobody's business. It worked really well for me but, at some point as I got older it just became work and that's when I lost my passion for it. But I never lost my passion for the craft. I'd listen to my old school stuff, new EDM, etc and be hearing mixes. It never really goes away. It's an itch that I just hadn't been able to scratch for about 20 years since I stopped doing it. I'm in my mid-60s, and I'm wanting to get back into it and just do it casually for my friends or as a bedroom DJ. And like I said the mixes are still in my head, I still visualize mixes when I hear music. So I bought myself a little kit, started getting connected with the digital stuff which wasn't a thing. I stopped doing it when MP3s were still the main way to go after CDs. I'm rejoining the clan folks. A lot of shortcuts that didn't exist back in the day and all of those visions I had of the best mixes are so much easier to craft now. Anyway that is my really long post and I appreciate if you're still here listening. I know you're out there, who else is feeling that itch just now starting to materialize just for the fun of it?

Am I ready for fleet play?

I'm playing for a couple of years. I've become solid enough for my liking and averaging about 100k damage in ranked with my favorite BB. I'm an older guy and don't have a lot of patience for online flame wars but should I venture into the fleet world? I've not joined any teams before in this game so not sure where to start or how the flow is different when I'm actually talking to the other team members.
