It was recommended on here last year but I can't remember the title. Elizabeth and Darcy are married because of a compromise. He's horrible to her, as are the servants. Thinking that she only cares about money, Darcy decides that he's not going to give her a penny.

She has enough pin money to buy clothes, but some other wealthy ladies assume she has unlimited spending money and waste it on expensive ones instead of practical clothes. So Lizzie doesn't have warm winter clothes and gets hypothermia because of it. When she's really unwell Darcy realises what he's done.

I mean the noises you hear around your house as you get up each day. So for example mine is:

1. Seagulls screaming their heads off
2. Man in house opposite having a morning coughing fit in his garden.
3. Car beeping goodbye one street over
4. Neighbours’ kids slamming doors
5. Laughing kids walking to school
6. Motorbike revving up
7. Sound of my kettle boiling

Etc

UPDATE: Consensus seems to be either birds, inconsiderate neighbours or flatulence. Some of you have a real flair for description, and it ain't just the birdsong people. I love this sub. XD

Hi! I’m after stories where Jane is given a bit of a reality check after her wedding. A lot of fics have her and Bingley as basically the Disney blissful happy ending, and I’d like stories about Jane realising the world isn’t actually as good as she thinks. Bonus points if *Bingley* is also not quite the Prince Charming she thinks he is!

I’ve seen it in the background of a few fics (for example, references to anything from Bingley having an affair to her being kidnapped) but I’d like to know if any stories have it as the main plot.

I’m fine with angst and mature content.

I remember the time being a putty like block she could break pieces off. For some reason in my memory it’s like soft pieces of glass, but that may just be how I imagined it.

It might be a short story in a collection of longer stories. I think she got the “time” from a mythical creature like a dragon or a fantasy character like wizard.

Hi all! I have a load of yarn in one colour and I'd like to make a mandala throw with it. I know some of them look great with just texture of stitches, but I can't think of any specifically! Does anyone have any pattern recs?
