Tarot with some "gaming" features, also playing cards

I'm posting about my kickstarter. It's for two closely related packs of cards.

Pike and Clover is a set of playing cards that look like Tarot de Marseille cards (but they are poker size, with corner indices, and use the standard playing card suits, also the court cards are based on the standard English pattern).

Rare Triumphs is a set of tarot cards, the same design as the Pike and Clover playing cards but with the addition of knights and a trump suit to make up a full 78 card tarot deck. So again this uses the playing card suits, and it has some features that might lend itself well to tarot games, like playing card size cards and corner indices.

Here's the link anyway: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iancumpstey/pike-and-clover-playing-cards-and-rare-triumphs-tarot

Is it even possible to open an account at the moment? Or not? Or not?

Is it even possible for anyone to open a new account at the moment?

cmyk merge pages

basic question no doubt ...

I am prepping some artwork for print. it is made in photoshop, saved in pdf format. my printers have recently decided that they need me to put this into multipage pdf format.

OK, easy to do in principle using e.g. pdfsam basic, which I have installed, or using adobe's online merge thing. (I can't do this using the program I made these in, photoshop, and I'm not buying Acrobat (or subscribing or whatever you have to do to be able to use it nowadays).)

So if I think the best way to do this to avoid unwanted unknown things going wrong would be the adobe online tool ... well I'd be wrong, because reexamining the CMYK colour values after using this reveals that they have been changed. That is one thing I wanted to avoid.

So my question then ... how about using something like pdfsam basic? will this literally just join the pages together so each page remains the same as it is now in the separate files, or does it do other stuff? like insist that all the pages in the file would have the same colour profile or insist that all the pages in the file would share the same something else. I have no idea what. What goes on in pdf metadata or whatever inside pdf files is not my specialist subject.

These pages should print OK at the moment as separate files, it looks like Adobe online is changing the CMYK colours (not much, but yes it is doing it), should I trust this other program on my machine to be doing a better job? That's pretty much it.

ballads ... bardic arts, singing

So a few years ago (actually starting 13 years ago!) I published some books with collections of my translations of traditional Scandinavian ballads, so-called medieval ballads. At the time, I didn't include music notation in the books. Well I have just gone back and revisited this, and added music notation for traditional melodies for these ballads where it is available. So this could be interesting or useful for anyone wanting to sing these storytelling songs in translation.

So the latest versions of my three books (print and ebook) now include musical notation for the ballad melodies. And I've also published the musical notation separately in an ebook.

Note that traditional melodies are not always known for these ballads as the people who wrote down the texts did not always write down the melodies. So altogether the three books have thirty-five ballads, and there are melodies for twenty-nine of these. I've also included alternative melodies for some of the ballads, but note this is not intended to be a comprehensive survey of ballad melodies, just a useful addition for singers.

The ballad books are here: The Faraway North, Warrior Lore, Lord Peter and Little Kerstin. The ebook with melodies only is here: Scandinavian Ballad Melodies.

Rare Triumphs

Some images of my cards, Rare Triumphs, on kickstarter now for a new edition.

An "alternative old style" tarot: it is drawn in the style of the Marseille tarot, but it is playing card sized, uses the playing card suits, with corner indices, and the imagery in the trump suit is different from typical Marseille imagery.
