been reading “knowledge of higher worlds and its attainment”, come to find out bro was incredibly antisemitic and believed in the spiritual supremacy of whites and all that woowoo bullshit. Same with Helena Blavatsky, who was massively influential for Crowley and basically laid the foundation for new age western esoterica/occult beliefs, AND inspired race based nationalism and ideology that has lead to some of the worst atrocities ever committed

my question is, how much of that deeply rooted racist world views is engrained into the occult practices that were born from these thinkers, or in the texts themselves? today, you still see branches of occult belief that still hold firm to these ideas (mostly far right online freaks)

still reading through the text and taking what resonates, but for people uninformed of the original intent of the authors could these sort of biases be absorbed by proxy? is there precautions one should take before diving into the ideas of certain figures?
