My long-distance boyfriend confuses me, and I don’t know if I’m overthinking this.
When we’re talking, he’s incredibly loving. He tells me he loves me, sends me flowers, makes me feel cared for, and overall treats me well.
The issue is communication when we’re apart.
If I’m out with friends or family, he wants updates. He likes knowing where I am, who I’m with, and sometimes wants to stay on call while I’m out. I don’t really mind giving updates because I know it gives him peace of mind.
But when the situation is reversed, he barely tells me anything. He’ll go out and I won’t know where he is, what he’s doing, or even that he’s left. Sometimes I only find out much later, or I have to piece it together myself. He doesn’t voluntarily update me the way he expects me to update him.
It’s not that I need constant texting. What bothers me is the double standard. If updates are important to him, why don’t they seem important when it comes to me? I’ve tried bringing this up and asking him to fix it, but he just says sorry and then forgets about it. I don’t even feel loved these days I just feel like I’m begging to be loved
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just a difference in communication styles, or is it unfair for him to expect something he doesn’t give in return?
