Two nights ago we thought we were losing our little man.

He’d already been at the emergency vet, then the regular vet, and he seemed to just be fading away and barely responsive. He lay between my daughter and I and we said our goodbyes and fell asleep expecting to wake up to him gone.

He was still kicking the next morning, so went back to the vet, and got more tests ($$$) - including a shaved belly for an ultrasound.

Brought him home last night. Bloods were fine. Ultrasound was fine. Repeat xray was fine. Then last night he’s lying on his side and wants to play with my sock. So I gave him a Mousey and he played with that. He didn’t play for long, still not 100%, but he’s gone from looking like he was on deaths door to wanting to play within 24 hours.

So glad he’s on the mend, but way to give us a major scare…. And yes - his belly is super soft and fuzzy 🥰

Anyone else in research studies?

I don’t have an official diagnosis, but it’ll be something in the rare EDS family.
We’ve got aortic root dissections in our 20s in the family (my dad and aunt), but I’m the only surviving family member with an aneurysm (which was repaired in my 20s - nearly 20 years ago )and apparently had significant tissue fragility in the area). I’m hyperflexible, have stretchy skin, autonomic issues etc., but was negative for all the known mutations at the time.

When my aneurysm was fixed, my DNA was sent to the team UTHealrh who are doing research into familial connective tissue disorders. So far I’m still a mystery, but they’re looking into possibly mutations on my COL5A1 gene (which is associated with cEDS).

Is anyone aware of any other studies I can try to get onto? I’d love to have the mutation identified so we can test the rest of the family.

Any bulldog-friendly puzzle toy recommendations?

Photo because LOOK AT HER! 🥰

My gal is a busy little bee, and there’s times she needs more stimulation. She loves her Kong Wobbler, and that thing is pretty indestructible. I’d like something else that she has to work harder for, but is still bulldog friendly. A lot of the puzzle toys I’ve seen would not last 5 minutes before getting destroyed, or look to be made for dogs with long snouts or small paws. And maybe they’d be ok, but I’d love reccs before spending the money.

In a world of shitty rentals, I’ve hit the jackpot with my LL

The REA has had a history of being really shit, but the current REA is decent, and the LL is a good bloke. He’s a builder, built my complex, and is a lovely person. I’ve been here a few years now and I always let him (and the REA) know if I need anything, which is pretty rare, and he just sorts it out within a couple of days. The more posts I read on here, the more grateful I am.

I forced my 16 year old to keep watching it

Just finished Season 5, and we’ve both cried multiple times tonight. I absolutely love this show, and every time I rewatch it, I love it even more.

And now I get to share that love with my daughter. I’m so glad she gets to know Catherine O’haras last big thing, and appreciate her incredible talent.

She’s almost 6, and she’s a fitty, not a fatty!

I got my girl from a reputable breeder who strives for health and breed standard. She imports studs from strong lines overseas to keep the gene pool healthy, and her dogs get exercised a lot.

My girl is fit, healthy, and at almost 6, going strong with no real health issues over the years.

She loves the beach, swims without a life jacket, and did a 5km (3.1 mile) walk with me yesterday, keeping a good pace.

I absolutely love this breed, and I strongly recommend anyone wanting to purchase a puppy to do your research and select for health. Mia is such a great example of the breed - and all the dogs I know of from her breeder are just as healthy. It’s so worth it ❤️

Does anyone else’s boofhead aggressively rub against everything in sight after a bath? She is always so excited to finish her bath and run around like a maniac rubbing against my bed.
