Coord for car show with my partner :3

My boyfriend is a car guy so I attend car shows with him during summer months, including this one yesterday. I don’t know anything about cars but he thinks it’s funny because I always look out of place when I join him 🫡

Here I am being car-lita for his viewing pleasure, I believe he was trying to find cars to match my coord.

Not sure how I felt about Maiden Voyage this year, heard junction 2 was a bit nightmarish this year... do people have other (techno/trance/house) day festival suggestions for next year ?

I couldn't tell how I felt about Maiden Voyage this year. It felt different to last year and I can't put my finger on why. previously to that I was attending junction 2 regularly and loved it but I've now heard that they've removed almost all the stages apart from the bridge which was pretty claustrophobic back then so I can only imagine it being dangerously overcrowded now. Some my favourite J2 memories are actually at the other stages, I can only hack the bridge in short bursts.

To describe MV this weekend, I was with good friends and we had fun, the artists we saw that we enjoyed really knocked it out the park (I did not know yaeji could dj so well!!)

The artists I wanted to see most were all in the plant room which was a shame. I hacked the entirety of mietze conte because I love him but felt like I was going to pass out afterwards. I could have possibly hacked returning for other artists but my brother struggled with the heat horrendously so we chose to avoid it. It's obviously hard to predict the weather (it was saying wet and 23 degrees only a week or so prior) so I cant blame the festival but I wish there was a way to allow for more air flow. I was also a bit surprised G2G was the first playing? We got there very early to see them and of course almost no one had arrived yet but G2G plays some pretty heavy stuff so it was a little surreal to see such an empty crowd for such fun music maybe they could of put some slightly lighter disco etc on early in the day to ease people into it.

The sound quality at howl was so bad I was kinda shocked, couldnt feel the bass at all, I was right at the front and could easily hear my friend speaking to me (probably asking to go try a different stage lol)

I remember feeling a bit lost at one point during the later afternoon, I was quite wired (lol) so a little restless, trying to work out where to go next. We just felt like we were wandering aimlessly from stage to stage. The plant room was too hot, howl was quiet, the main stage was playing more grime/rap adjacent stuff which wasn't the kind of music we'd come to see personally (I understand others enjoyed it though), unfold was good when it was good but whichever artist was playing at the time was playing something very repetitive that didn't feel like it was building to anything.

The dust and the heat of course only exacerbated frustration further, whilst it could not be helped..

When we left we all agreed we had a good day but something felt different compared to last year, maybe it was just us being a bit more irritable from some kinda mild heat stroke lolll

Either way, I'm not sure if we will return to J2 or MV next year and would love to hear other peoples suggestions if there are better options out there!!

Opinions on the crowd at Junction 2, particularly for a pair of older ravers?

Hi guys, bit random, I was wondering how you all find the crowd in junction 2? I haven’t been in a number of years and have sorta forgotten. To cut a long story short, I have been considering getting day festival tickets for my parents (and I) for Christmas. We haven’t been able to party together in a while now cuz we’ve all been so busy so I thought they’d rly like the sentiment of me organising it!

Don’t get me wrong they’re not your usual 56 year olds. They are fairly frequently going to house/techno events and definitely dabble in substances when appropriate 😅 Daniel avery is one of their all time favs so they were jealous when I said how often he is at junction 2

They used to go to lost village festival religiously but haven’t in quite a while. One thing I remember about LV is that it’s a welcoming atmosphere. My parents are also “older” of course but there are many other peoples their age and they always seemed to make friends, they never feel weird or “too old” / “not aesthetic enough” in environments like LV.

I really loved junction 2 when I used to go but me and my boyfriend do like the harder end of techno I suppose so one worry I have is that it’ll be too hardcore at times, mum particularly seems to enjoy quite queer inspired house music / disco although enjoys some techno too, I think i remember some more laid back ambient stages too . The other worry is that the atmosphere could be a little unfriendly. last time I was there I noticed more aggy roadman types than usual / dudes leering at me. I wouldn’t want them to feel on edge there, but maybe it’s a lush vibe there and I just imagined it. I also heard that it’s gotten even more crowded with the removal of stages? They like space to dance, often opting for space further to the back 🤔 it’s a shame that Junction 2 did this

Am I overthinking this? Any opinions?
Are there alternate day festival suggestions? I’d been meaning to take them to an alfresco disco in Bristol which always feel like they’d enjoy it whenever I’ve been but the events are so sporadic it would be hard to book one for a Xmas present lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

TL:DR is this event too sketchy for a pair of fairly gentle older ravers- other suggestions ?

Random Lolita came and asked to take a picture with me a few weeks ago :)

Was a very cute interaction, you don’t see many ppl who are part of the fashion in the area I live in at all! She is on the left with darker hair. My boyfriend took a picture on my film camera but I only just developed them and rediscovered the image :). His thumb is totally in frame at the bottom of the image tho lolll
(She gave consent to share online, I think she wanted to post the pic she got on her phone online somewhere too lol)

What are some things you wish you knew as a newbie lolita?

I feel like I've been in the fashion just about long enough now to reflect on how I would of done things differently as a beginner...

I'm sure many others do too!

Events in the uk to wear EGL? X

I was wondering if anyone knew of any regular/upcoming UK egl or jfashion events?
I’ve been to hyper Japan before but not in quite a while because I felt like the last couple I attended were a bit lack lustre but maybe I’ll give it another shot 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am not a part of a comm unfortunately, so I mostly just wear egl to do day to day things which is okay because you don’t need to have a reason to wear Lolita but it would be nice to have something to dress up for ! I live in the south but I’m so up for travelling anywhere x

Thankyou!!

So I stretched my septum from 8g to 6g literally 15 minutes ago hahaha.
I think I must of been at 8g for over a year and 6g has always been my goal so it felt like the right time to finally do it.

I used a pincher, which I have done for all of them. I've heard a lot of people say it's the first really painful stretch. It was also the first time I didnt do a half size because I was struggling to find a 7g pincher...

Either way it was indeed quite stingy. Not agonising or anything but it was definitely a lot more noticeable than previous stretches. I was pretty gentle with it.

My nose is feeling quite sore and numb now. As youd expect from any extremely newly stretched piercing probably..

But I've freaked myself out reading reddit posts about blow outs and stretching too fast and all that stuff. Reading reddit horror stories probably isnt a good idea idk

I did only stretch it like less than an hour ago but I was just curious what other peoples experiences are with this stretch. Is it normal to have a sore nose for a hour or so, when would be a really bad sign that I need to size back down?

I bought this Angelic Pretty JSK like 4 years ago. It was my first brand piece and I had no idea how old school it was at the time (2004)! I got it very cheap too because it is missing the apron and detachable bows. I think it's sooo cute but I have thought of selling it a few times because I have no idea how to coord it really.
Finding something with a complimentary fabric texture / colour / pattern has proven quite difficult. It is quite a heavy woollen fabric and didnt seem to be released with a matching KC at the time.

Owning the apron would be cute but I actually wish I had the detachable bows more because it would really elevate it the look.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

It's called Apron JSK btw :) (https://lolibrary.org/items/ap-apron-jsk)
