i definitely don’t think my sonny angels fall into action figure category but hopefully the general customization does fit into this sub.
i’ve recently started repainting custom sonny angel figurines. i use pro-acryl acrylic paint and then seal them with matte top coat gel polish under uv light. sonnys have a matte finish so obviously i want to replicate that. i guess the polish is causing the paint to pull up, which is mixing with my brush and in turn mixing into my bottle. it’s a whole mess. i wait 24-48 hours for the paint to dry, i do thick but very lightly pressured strokes. i’m wondering if there are better alternatives… a varnish/sealant specifically for acrylic/model paints.

i’m gonna include pictures. the first 6 are some from the past 2 weeks that turned out great! done exactly the same way, everything was fine. the last will be everything from the past 2 days… streaky, splotchy, just bad. i will say i’ve ran into this issue most with darker colors- specifically brown and black. but it’s all around a bad issue that’s ruining a perfect paint job, wasting my time and costing me money from commissioned pieces. i’m so anxious and would appreciate any advice anyone has ʚ♡ɞ
