What it says on the tin... I was on the grind for the 1000 ascensions achievement with the cursor strategy but had to stop for a while after ~210 because it was so incredibly mind-numbing. What strategies do you use to power yourselves through it?
From the Tony Kornheiser Show yesterday, Tim Kurkjian tells a story that happened while he was in Cooperstown last weekend for the HOF ceremonies:
Tim- "I go to the bathroom and I'm the first one in there. There are four urinals. I pull in and right behind me, a guy says "Hey, they'll let anyone in here."
It was John Smoltz. He was to my right.
I look to my left. Tom Glavine on my left.
Then I looked at the fourth urinal, which was behind me, and it was Greg Maddux"
Tony- "You're right in the starting rotation!"

One thing I've had in the back of my mind for a long time is patterns in end digits for numbers that are powers. I noticed that square numbers never seem to end in 2, 3, 7, or 8 while cubes can end with any number... I moved up to fourth- and fifth-powers and those even-/odd-power patterns seemed to hold.

Do those patterns (for lack of a better word) apply to all powers that are either even or odd, and is there a specific reason why/why not?
