Would you say British tourists have a bad reputation in Greece?

British tourist here. I recently went to Perissa and was blown away by the whole experience. However, while reading about Santorini online, I came across posts where Greek people were complaining about British tourists.

I know it’s possible to have negative experiences with tourists from any country, but I’m also aware that the term “Brits Abroad” hasn’t come from nowhere. Would you say that Brits have a poor reputation in Greece generally? If so, what can we do to try and change that?

Question about a hotel in Lafayette, LA

Has anyone ever stayed at the Juliet Hotel in Lafayette? If so, did you experience anything strange while you were there?

I just really need to rant about unsolicited advice from people who haven’t done a PhD

I’m in the final stretch, I have diagnosed ADHD and I’m think I’m burnt out so I’m definitely feeling more sensitive/reactive than usual and receiving comments through an already negative lens.

However, I am so frustrated every time someone in my life who hasn’t done a PhD tries to give me oversimplified solutions I haven’t even asked for. Yes, it’s well intentioned and there’s no way they could possibly understand without doing one themselves. Yes, to some degree, what they’re saying is logical and would be helpful in certain circumstances. Yes, it’s a privilege to have people in my life who want to support me (and to have even been awarded the funding to do one in the first place).

But I just want to scream at them about the fact that this is unlike any other degree, I’ve been doing it for 5 years now so chances are I’ve already considered what they’ve suggested and it’s also not just about quantity - my supervisor will not support me submitting it until it’s at the standard of where they think it needs to be. “Is it done yet?” “Surely there can’t be that much more to do” “Remember you’re your own worst critic” “At some point you just need to let it go” “It’s like eating an elephant, you’ve got to break it down into small chunks”. Please, for the love of God, stop teaching me how to suck eggs and just *listen*
UGH

Edit: I just love Reddit sometimes. Posting this and having validation from people in the same boat has actually been so helpful and very much appreciated 🫶

Why is my cat scooting 😭

• Species: Cat
• Age: Approximately 2 years
• Sex/Neuter status: Male, neutered
• Breed: Classic domestic short hair?
• Body weight: Approx 5kg
• History: Generally healthy
• Clinical signs: Scooting on the carpet
• Duration: About 4-6 months
• Your general location: UK
• Links to any test results, X-rays, vet reports etc. that you have: N/A, but vet had previously emptied anal glads twice in the past few months (they were relatively full each time)

He is fed nothing but hypoallergenic food, doesn’t go outside and is up to date on flea and worming treatment

How the fuck do people get through the final stages of writing

Genuine question. My wedding is next weekend (woo!) but I’m also trying to submit my thesis in the next few weeks. I have diagnosed ADHD and I am probably a bit burned out but I just feel like this process is never going to end and I might actually submit on my deathbed at this rate (although at least then it would be over)

Edit: I’m clearly a bit emotional today but small kindnesses like these responses from people in similar situations do actually mean an awful lot, thank you 🤍
